On some of the other threads folks were saying you could find 340's in the 450-550 range used. I haven't seen that personally so I can't say but the 642 and 442 definitley fit your figures.

Ruger SP101 - Perfect for IWB & can be had in shaved hammer version..

OP said "best all around".

SP101 if you want to shoot and well conceal IWB/OWB. You can hammer nails with it all day, .357 isn't painful, .38 +p is comfy, and .38 target loads are like .22s. Yet still quite small physical size.

If you have to have pocket pistol that you don't care about shooting all that much: SW Jframe .38.

I'm biased, but I carry a S&W 640 a LOT. It's stainless, will shoot .357s, conceals well, and is accurate enough for most social situations.

That's a Ruger GP100 in your picture, not an SP101.

Looks like an SP101 to me. Here is mine...they are at first glance very similar to the GP100. I suppose the 6 shots on the speed strip is what is making it look like a GP and not an SP

Yah, I guess you're right. I've seen a snub nosed GP identified as an SP101 before, and the six shots threw me.

Ruger actually did make a "compact" version of the GP-100 that used the same smaller grip as the SP models...was fixed sight with a 3" barrel.

If they aren't sitting side by side you really can't tell a difference between them unless you actually count the number of holes in the cylinder.

Yep, it's my SP101 for sure.

I just carry 6 in the speed loaders; I know some folks say five is quicker, that the 6th one gets in the way, some say just do 3 and get back in the fight. I dunno, just one more round rather than one less.

Only reason I don't EDC it was I finally decided I felt more comfy carrying semi with more rounds.

My wife likes her S&W 637, .38 Spec. I like the Taurus PT745 Pro for a carry in my truck. A lot of power and lightweight for a .45 cal at a reasonably price.
