The Tennessee State Trap Shooting Championships start this Thursday June 11 and run through Sunday June 14 at the Nashville Gun Club. A schedule of events can be seen in the program available at TENNtrap

If you have not seen a trap shoot, this would be a great one to come out and see. People of all ages and types will be competing.

There will be a few vendors on the grounds also. No admission charge.

It is a great sports to be involved with, and I would welcome you to give it a try. With that said I would not recommend that you start at the this shoot.

I hope you can make it out,

PerazziTM1

Very Cool, I hope to get to meet ya. Just ask for Wally at the registration table, the trophey table or the cashiers if they are not busy. I will gladly shake a hand, and say howdy and explain things if I'm not shooting.

Be safe and shoot well,

My 12 yr old is there now getting ready for the AIM state match. He shoots tomorrow. Hope the weather is good and they have a blast! Just have not figured out how to cook the birds yet!

Since I moved to Tn, I have not found anything but sporting clays and skeet. Any clubs in eastern TN that shoot trap?? I used to shoot 2 or 3 nights a week in Cincinnati and always made the trip up to the Grand American. I just passed the new home of the Grand, on my way home from Cleveland. One hard right bird out of the first house and you could be shooting the highway! ( not really but Darn are they close to I-71).

Traumaslave,

Welcome to TN, We a few trap clubs in E TN.

Hog Heaven in White Pine is a favorite of mine.

Fairfield Glade near Crossville is another.

Morristown TC in Morristown of course.

Check my website in the sig for other Tennessee clubs.

Yea, I miss Vandalia too, I really enjoyed it there, it had its own problems, but there was a feeling there that I just don't get in Sparta.

Well, I don't think the Cardinal Center near Columbus is the new home of the Grand American yet. The ATA has 10 year lease in Sparta and has just made plans to move the Hall of Fame there.

Be Safe and Shoot Well,

Do you mean that feeling of planes buzzing you scalp??? :D

Under further investigation, I think what I passed was the State shoot going on. Wish I would have stopped.

Maybe someday I'll make it to Sparta. Kinda outta the way from any of my travels. I do go to Louisville a few times a year and it doesn't look to be but a couple hours from there.

I've shot toward a many of plane at the airport while competing. And they returned the favor by awakeing me while I was trying to sleep in the camper.

It's suppose to be a great place to shoot, I haven't made there yet.

Sparta is out of the way for everybody :), unless maybe your a farmer. Louisville is a little closer than here in Knoxville. I think it's about 7-8 hours from here. I go by way of Nashville, Puducah, up I-55 bit, hang a left and go due west about 50-60 minutes on two lane state and county roads. It's not a bad trip mostly flat to rolling. Nice place very big and spread out... its just not Vandalia :D.
