A corporate headquarters spokesperson for Ruby Tuesday Restaurants told KnoxViews that the company has not issued a formal statement on recent legislation to allow handguns in Tennessee restaurants and bars, but that the company has no plans to change existing policies or to prohibit guests with permits from carrying handguns in their restaurants as long as they are complying with state law.

He said the issue will likely affect bars more than restaurants, and that in Ruby Tuesday's experience very few guests bring weapons to their restaurants where it is allowed. He said there are no plans to refuse service to guests legally carrying weapons or to attempt to determine if a guest is doing so. He also noted that guest safety is a top priority, and that management and staff are trained to take swift action to resolve potential threats. He also noted that the company has procedures in place to monitor alcohol consumption and management and servers are trained to avoid over serving.

Cool, they have great burgers, salad bar, and.....philosophy as well!

I wonder if the spokesman adjusted his "belt" before the interview!

Excellent. I haven't been to Ruby's in a few years but it's good to know that it's still an option. :)

Very nice. This is good to hear.

On another note, funny how people seem to forget that serving people enough alcohol to get intoxicated is illegal. And I know for a fact, Cabana and Sunset Grill get people hammered on a near constant basis.

That's because it's all about the money. Wrong or right is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with profit margins.

I just hope these fine establishments stop gettin people drunk soon because they are clearly in violation of the law and could get in HUGE trouble if they got caught.

Glad to hear that

I haven't eaten at Ruby's in a long time. It is high time to rectify that.

Yes. I plan to frequent any establishment that trusts its HCP holders and I will be sure to let the manager know why I chose them instead of Cabana or Sunset Grill...

If you're referring to Rayburn's establishments, then I hope they keep on keepin' on.

Concealed Caring: a Tennessee health-care innovation!

Submitted by Virgil Proudfoot on Tue, 2009/06/09 - 10:02am.

Governor Bredeson (D-Blue Cross) has proudly announced the new Tennessee Concealed Caring health-insurance plan. Bredeson has decided to sign on in bipartisan fashion to this joint work product of the state's Republican House and Senate. Concealed Caring takes advantage of Tennessee's new functional ownership by the National Rifle Association to provide a striking Republican innovation in health insurance. When a Tennessee resident finds himself or herself without health insurance and needs treatment beyond simple stabilization in an emergency room, the Tennessean is authorized to imply the concealment of a semi-automatic weapon upon his or her person in order to access the specific treatment. If such treatment is then denied by the health professional, the citizen is authorized to withdraw the concealed weapon and use it upon the health-care provider.

This innovative system draws upon the historical examples provided in such groundbreaking research efforts as "The Getaway" starring Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw, and "Bonnie and Clyde" starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.

Yes. He doesn't seem to have a problem with his businesses getting people wasted and then fetching their cars for them when it comes time to drive home drunk...

No suprise at all. When I go out with my GF in Mississippi, none of the chain restaraunts are posted. I have eaten openly armed in Chilis, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Logans Roadhouse, etc and never had a problem.

Most of the places that will post are going to be in liberal bastions like my hometown Memphis, and they are gonna be the local places. The chains know better, and will benefit by local restaraunts posting.
