Thanks Super Dave. Glad to see Dickson Co. well represented. Both sponsored their respective legislative body's bills. Sen. Doug Jackson and Rep. David Shepard. I shall be calling them both tomorrow and thanking them.

I'm starting to wonder if what was thought as a Democrat ploy, wasn't actually a Republican ploy when it comes to Speaker Williams. He seems to be doing a good job all around.

Never really thought about it like that, but maybe!

No. While Williams has been a pleasing surprise on gun bills, it was not a GOP ploy.

He is a relatively new member. Leadership isn't something handed to new people. Of course, when looking at his other actions, such as giving Democrats chairman seats, and honoring Naifeh the way he is, plus the perks of power he did not hand out readily to the GOP people (staffing), it is obvious Williams is trying hard to straddle the middle, knowing he will need Dem support to stay speaker.

Good on 'em - Sen Tim Barnes (and Rep Curtis Johnson) for the Clarksville area. Sent both a note of thanks for their efforts on behalf of the law abiding citizens of TN!

I wonder where Southerland was. He told me he was going to support the override.

I wondered the same thing. Sent him (and Yokley) emails but did not receive a reply. Glad we didn't need his vote.

He had to be out of town when the override vote was taken. Steve is and has been a support of gun rights from the day he was elected. Nothing has changed.

As stange as it may sound when talking about a politician, I do actually believe that. I've looked at his voting record.
