When are they going to stop with these stupid polls? Everyone of them for the past 4 weeks has indicated that the majority of TN folks are perfect fine with guns in restaurants that serve alcohol. Amazing.

The following is one of many comments on the poll and below that is my own personal rebuttal.

I being a Mother & Grandmother would not go into a rest. that allows people to bring in hand guns. What are we doing going back to the old days in the Western Saloons??? What will these politicians say when the first child or anyone is killed by a drunk gun packing person gets mad and starts shooting and kills someone???????????I can not believe this was even up for a vote. I am an average person who does not want a gun slinger in any rest. We have enough killing on the streets and homes without giving more people the right to carry a gun in public. Who in there right mine would vote to give a person the right to carry a gun in public where anything could happen.

Exactly anything CAN happen. Anything happened on Oct. 16, 1991 at a Luby's Cafeteria in Texas. Anything happened on April 2, 2009 at Johnny's Sports Bar and Grill. But because of current law, people had to watch their loved ones murdered in front of them. Now, hopefully that will be deterred. I guarantee you that in an instance where lethal force is neccessary a person who is a legal HCP holder and has their weapon with them and prepared to use it is going to be a hell of alot more useful than an "average person" stuffing their face with the free yeast rolls that the establishment provides.

An old saying continues to come to mind as I read some of these ridiculous remarks,

"You can't fix stupid!"

I would be willing to guess that in about 3 weeks this will all blow over and they will latch onto something else. Of course once July 14th hits it wouldn't surprise me if we saw news crews at restaurants interviewing people.

Good god. After reading some of the comments by the anti gunners on Channel 6's site I am about to decide the majority of Tennesseans are too stupid to even be allowed in a restaurant with or without a gun. I have never seen so much stupid mindless s... in my life.

close...most of them are too stupid to be trusted to live....if it wasnt for the internet and cbs/cnn/abc telling them how to feel, think, and live most of them would die of cluelessness

Voted - 58% - 36% - 6%

We need to beat down every one of these polls, back down the memory hole - if they win even one, they will triumphantly declare the world is now anti-gun, the people have spoken!

Yep it was going the wrong way so they shut it down,,, seen that before... many times... probably will never hear or see the results of the poll in print or on the tube/screen.

Voted Allows. Current results:

Allows Handguns

59% (130 votes)

Bans Handguns

35% (76 votes)

Doesn't Matter

6% (13 votes)

Total votes: 219

For some reason, my vote was recorded.

Hmmm. Strange things are afoot at WATE. I set my DVR to record tonight's news but since the NBA game is on the timing is probably questionable.

Bans Handguns

35% (79 votes)

Doesn't Matter

6% (13 votes)

At the beginning of the WTNZ (WATE's "sister station") news they had a segment on the "guns in bars" veto being overriden. I thought they may mention the poll since they are "sister stations". No mention of the poll. There were several interviews. I didn't hear anything supporting carry in restaurants. One guy said he wouldn't eat in restaurant that allowed handguns. I guess he doesn't realize he's probably been sitting near people with guns in restaurants for years. He probably called all his friends to watch him on tv not understanding that he was making a fool of himself. Or more likely, his friends are all clueless as well.
