Magazine Springs

Recommended Posts

I keep AR15 mags loaded for months at a time and the mags for my Glock 22 stay fully loaded between shooting sessions and it does not seem to damage the mags in any way. I was wondering how durable the spring in tubular type mags are, like on a shotgun or in the case of a lever action rifle. I have a Model 94 Winchester in .30-30, would it hurt to leave say 6 rounds in the tube for extended periods of time?

It shouldn't. I know shotgun rounds deform over time, but I do not believe that it will damage your mag springs. It's compression-decompression CYCLES that wear the spring.

What he said; fatigue is what kills a spring.
