Best of luck to Spring Hill

Recommended Posts

So, it looks like we all own a car manufaturer now. Did I hear correctly that we're going to give Government Motors another $30 billion dollars to help with the bankruptcy? I feel for those that work at the plants that are impacted. I suppose owning part of the company doesn't soften the blow. Best of luck to those in Spring Hill.

giving them money they will never be able to repay is a waste. this country is in enough debt already. if Obama wanted to really save America, the 30 billion could have been handed out to the people who are loosing homes to foreclosure. have them pay back in small amounts till they get caught back up. why he wants to help a contaminated pool like GM is beyond me. in my opinion, GM has manufactured nothing but pure sh-T in the last 15 years. what do i base that statement from? the fact that i have spent the last 15 years in the auto service industry. i know what is made well and what sucks. GM is junk.

edit: and on another note, Saturn looks like it will be better off. Roger Penske knows how to run things and he is just a stroke of a pen from owning Saturn.

Roger Penske owns the Name of Saturn but GM will continue to make the cars. He did NOT buy any of the infrastructure (as in Springhill or Wilmington Delaware) so he can't make a darn thing (yet).

The release we read Friday afternoon stated that Penske is in talks with foreign car makers (China was mentioned) to take over and import a car under the Saturn name after two years. That helps, yeah.....

He should have bought both factories and the name and then used his logistics subsidiary's to bring in the parts and built something American and special....but no, ain't happening.

From what Bredesen stated about the meeting this week in DC with the GM big Shots the spring Hill plant will be closed...Unless TN ponies up in the bidding war $200 million was stated as being on the low end of the spectrum....per WKSR in Pulaski... WKSR.com

I am going to put my share of GM up on ebay. If I can get $1.00 from it now it will be more than it is worth. All we did was bail out the unions. The only thing the govt has ever come even close to getting right is the military. They have cranial-rectumitus when it comes down to anything else.
