Times Free Press Clergy nonsense

There was a headline article today in the Chattanooga Times Free Press (June 1, 2009) stating that local clergy favor Gov. Bredeson's veto, because "guns and alcohol don't mix." Apparently the reporter interviewed a half-dozen pastors who agree with the veto, and NONE who disagreed. They all said something like: "I'm all for the 2nd amendment, but guns and alcohol don't mix!" Well, who wants to mix guns and alcohol??? I'm chagrined that clergy, who are supposed to be educated and on the ball, are so ill informed about what the bill is actually about!

I'm a pastor, and I wish they had interviewed me too, for the article. I think Gov. Bredeson's veto is pretty bad, and I hope it will be overturned. I'm grateful for my Representative Floyd who has stated he will vote to over-rule the veto.

It's not about guns in bars, it's about having your gun with you in good restaurants that also happen to serve a beer or glass of wine with your meal. It's not about drinking and gun play and "saloons!" Good grief! The only saloons I know anything about are on Gunsmoke re-runs!

The media's blatant & widespread dishonesty is why I chose my handle of "Media Buster". The majority of the American media is nothing but a bunch of far leftist narcissistic fascists who don't care about reporting the truth, unless it suits their agenda. They are corrupt, period..

Since this is a thread about Clergy, I feel like this post needs a big ole' southern AMEN BROTHER!

The Media is spreading lies and half-baked nonsense about the whole thing because phrases like "guns in bars" and "guns and alcohol don't mix" is what sells (I guess ). Once this passes, as I am 100% sure it will, by the time summer is over it will be a non-issue.

I have said in the past, If this veto is not overturned, nothing will change for me... I live 2 minutes from the Georgia state line. If I want to go out to eat, guess what state gets my money... definitely not one who does not allow me to protect my family.

Thank you for being logical about this. Maybe if you knew some of these pastors who are against the bill you could convince them to minister about a real problem such as those who may go to these establishments and abuse alcohol at the bar, then clime in a 2000lb vehicle and take to the streets.

I found it ironic and somewhat hypocritical that the restaurant owners who voiced their disapproval at the bill are the very ones who sell a much more potentially dangerous product than guns, alcohol.

If we all do our little bit to support gun rights, it has a cumulative impact.
