here is a PM i got in response to my post "democrats, obama, and the 2nd amendment...".

while I KNOW my point of view is the minority opinion on TGO (for that matter in all of TN for christ's sake), i had no idea that a opposing point of view would lead to s**t like this, this is incredible...

the following is the PM i got today from "Straight Shooter" and my response to him (if this is a majority endorsed way of dealing with disagreements, i will have no problem going on with my life without being a member of TGO and would implore any with a brain to do so as well):

does anyone else see the irony in the fact that while discussing the 2nd amendment is commonplace on this forum, the understanding of the 1st amendment seems to have gone completely misunderstood and unnoticed?

If you haven't noticed, the 1st Amendment doesn't count on privately owned websites.

And from what I can tell, no one has stopped you from voicing your opinion. Many don't agree, and they've let you know this. But no one has forced you to shut up.

Then you make a post saying you hadn't read any of the posts in the thread you started. So yeah you're going to piss a lot of people off. CK1 you like stirring the pot. You post things KNOWING they are going against the grain and you seem like you are trying to start a fight. I'm not going to take Straight Shooter's side because the PM was in poor taste, but you can't sit there and be butthurt because you got burned when YOU threw the gas on the fire.

It also should be mentioned that this should have been handled in private. I have posted a PM in the public forum before over a disagreement where I was talked to in the same way and I wish I had NEVER posted it openly. It detracted from the topic at hand and only served to make me and the person I was arguing with look foolish.

I think both of you need to chill out and grow up a little bit. This isn't the school yard and if you can't tone it down and agree to disagree I'm sure a Mod will be happy to show you both the door if you can't find it on your own.

Crap like this distracts TGO from it's mission and purpose.

if it's a prerequisite to be anti-obama in order to be a member of TGO i missed that.

if my post offended anyone, i'm sorry for that. i'm also sorry that an opposing point of view is offensive to some.

my smart remark was nothing compared to the amount of trashtalk i and my point of view were receiving in the response posts on that forum... i was pretty sure it would be that way...

i was hoping for people to take in what i said before launching partisan banter, some intelligent debate, what i got was talking points... so i apoligize if my participation wasn't to you or anyone's liking, i really wasn't purposefully trying to piss anyone off, if i did i do apoligize.

however, i also didn't think i'd be getting threats from quacks!

You ended your first post with "and please remember, above all, being ignorant is un-american." With that it read like you were calling people ignorant and un-American.
