Is anyone else watching the NHL Playoffs?

As I sit here watching Detroit beat on Pittsburgh in Game One of the final series, I got to wondering who else is watching?

I'm no Penguins fan, but I really, really don't like the Red Wings. I guess I have to somewhat prefer Pittsburgh by default, then.

Pens fan all the way. Remember back to back cups in early 90's. Been Pens fan for LONG time. Hated to see them give up the first game.

Rightwinger, you didn't miss much. Detroit won, 3-1. And they still suck! :D Preds season ticket holder, going on two years here.

M&PC9, the NHL is a group of athletes that can play for more than 30 seconds at a time without having to stop and figure out what play to run next. :P

Ftncityfatboy, not a Pens fan by choice, but I just can't stand the Wings. I guess the Penguins are preferable to a Canadian team...I guess. :D

I am a Detroit fan. The reason I like Detroit is my dad is a big fan he lives in Michigan and I have watched them for a long time hell grew up watching them. Even been to a couple of games. I do like Nashville but when they play Detroit I don't root for the home team.

Red wings fan here, have been for over 10 years now(which is almost half my life!). Osgood is on fire.

I'm not a Detroit guy, and I like to give 'em grief whenever the opportunity presents itself. But I've got to admit, they're a great team. They have a reputation for a reason.

Likewise, with Chris Chelios. Chelios is a sissy. :D But with that said, he's a class act sissy. Last season, I believe, I was at a Detroit/ Nashville home game. A young girl (she looked about 6 or so, but I was on the opposite side of the arena) got hit in the face with a puck, just to the side of the Detroit bench. As the ushers/ first aid folks were calming her down, ensuring everyone was okay, etc, Chelios leaned over the glass on the end of the bench and gave her his stick. Not a huge deal, but I was still very impressed by the gesture.

Detroit has the payroll for great players no doubt. They are an extremely strong team, gotta love em. I wonder if "O" will get involved with hockey ownership, being its in Detroit, car manufacturing in Detroit, oh never mind....:D

How long have the Preds been a team? Who's city is failing? Pretty soon it will be the Detroit Obama's.

If you've not been to a Preds/ Detroit game in Nashville, my Chelios comment might not make since. There's a chant that goes "Chelios is a sis-sy" whenever he takes the ice. That's all. :P

As for how many Cups has Nashville brought home...well...how many times have the Predators made it out of the first round of the playoffs? I love my Preds, but they're not Cup material just yet. Lots of promise on the horizon, though. Couple more players like Joel Ward, and Detroit may have a problem on their hands. :P

I haven't been able to get tickets to a Nash/Det. game! They sell out before I realize they're on sale.

I never had to buy them when I lived in Mich. Life of a spoiled child, I guess. My dad got box seats as a "gift" from vendors with season passes to anything either of us wanted.

Been a Redwing fan since the rivalries with the Avalanche in the mid to late nineties. That was great hockey to watch. You could feel the tension rising through out the game until the brawling began.

I was at the 97 brawl game. My dad got tickets to every Wings - Avalanche game at Joe Louis Arena that year just because of the cheap shot to Draper. He knew the Wings were gonna get revenge for it eventually. Best part was Roy and Osgood getting into it. :puke: It's said that game brought the team together to win the Cup that year. That was their best year despite Konstantinov and Fetisov getting hurt.

I miss that type of hockey!

I will remind each of you the comments made on this thread when Sid the Kid raises that cup over his head after winning the cup this year. The world is full of people who doubt the ability of youth. Mark it down, the ftncityfatboy says Pens in 6!!!
