Democrats, Obama, and the 2nd amendment...

I don't think I layed blame on anyone but it doesn't appear that there has been any move in a direction that will get us out of this mess. We just keep digging deeper. Notice...again I use "we".

That is for sure. Here is what has me worried. The first president who tried this deficit spending method was FDR. As you know he served three terms and 10 of the 12 years we never got below 10% unemployment until WW2 happened and brought us out of it. Both sides of the isle believed at the time that deficit spending prolonged the problem. In 1949 during the next recession they cut taxes and spending and we rebounded tremendously. Then in 1962 during the Kennedy administration we fell into another recession. He learned the same lesson before WW2 that most politicians did and he cut spending and taxes and again we rebounded quickly. The next recession was during the Carter administration and we all know how that turned out. Yep tried the old spend your way out of it routine. Then Reagan got elected and cut spending and taxes and yes we bounced back quickly. Well, here we go again trying to do the old spend your way out of a mess routine with Obama.

The thing is I don't think Obama is an idiot. I think he knows exactly what he is doing and knows the history that I have mentioned. But this is about the big picture for him. And like Harry Reid said "never let a crisis go to waste". This is about government power grab and socialism and nothing more.

;) Talking points? I didn't see anything but left wing liberal rhetoric and yes he's right about one thing, being democratic = liberalism = socialist = communist on top of being ignorant is un-american and they (nobama cool aid drinkers) are proving that. Just turn on the TV and 90% of the stations spout the same BS, open any newspaper, same BS. Biden says you're not a true American unless you pay double/triple the taxes you're paying now (its coming to that), but you can't get a Nobama position unless you cheat on your taxes. :):)

I didnt say Bush was the cause of the Financial Downturn all I said was it started under him and you cant blame the O for it no matter how much you hate him. I agree Clinton Shares a large part of the blame for the economic downturn but Bush had alot to do with it. And yes the Bailouts, borrowing, and printing presses were kicked into full steam towards the end of Bushs term.

Are you reading or listening to anything folks are posting? It did NOT start under Bush. Clinton and his feel good, everybody should be equal and own a home bunch and was continued, after it was noted these were very high risk loans WITH Obama's support as a U S Senator.

Folks, little known secret here, but money will always flow to those who understand the free market systems and are willing to work for it. NOW, before you say, lots of money went to Fannie and Freddie and now GM and Chrysler....remember I said "those who understand". You cannot pour money down a mismanaged system. I work for a company that provides logistics support for both Chrysler and GM. Am I scared, you bet ya. What I see right now is total life support being put on a terminal cancer patient. He's going to die no matter what they do. The folks who will control these companies don't manage well nor understand value. The government oversight and Union participation in management will be the final nail in these two giants. (and yes, both were poorly managed to get where they are as well. What should have happened was the share holders should have fired senior managment, brought in tough financial minded folks and told the Unions to pound sand and clean house in all other areas from R&D to marketing. If it doesn't sell, don't keep making it. Period)

We speak to our employees at least once a quarter and more often to the management team about our P&L. When we announce that our contract, or business unit made x amount of dollars, and folks the numbers are in 7 figures per month, most of them bow up and state they should be making lots more money. They can't see beyond the facts other than the word "millions". What they fail to see is their salaries and benefits as well as operating costs turn those "millions" into thousands when you get to the profit side of the sheet! So managment is again keeping the man down. It's back to education. Class warfare, fear tactics and those unwilling to really understand human nature and basic rights. Dems claim this but are so wrong as to be laughable. Kill a baby but dont' kill a murderer, tax the rich because its unfair to work hard and make money but give it the crackhead every month so he can get high, party and then hook up, (back to kill a baby again), destroy the social structure as we now know it because it will increase our voting block and keep us in power! At least until the democracy implodes as everybody votes to pay themselves and do no work!

Classic liberal/dem BS. I do not fault any millionare or billionare for making their money.....they are the ones who will employe the thousands that will make less but will generally find their "niche" in the world if they are willing to work. As I get older and more experienced, I should rise in the company a little based on that knowledge but not souly because I was there. If I continue to educate myself and can perform at higher levels then I should continue up.

Typed way more than I wanted, sorry its so long.

Hey, there is a House marathon on the tube....

Hey, there is a House marathon on the tube....

Clinton May have been part of the cause of it But the downturn started in 2007 UNDER BUSH. And Bush started the bailouts, printing, and borrowing so no matter how much you hate Obama you cant ignore the fact that he has nothing to do with where we are thus far, but he is going to put us in a very bad place further down road.

honestly ask yourself if your stances are really fact and truly good for our country when engaging in dissent... and please remember, above all, being ignorant is un-american.

So you are saying you ARE un-American? :)

Seriously, relatively little is one Presidents fault (Carter/FDR the exception). All that is going on is the culmination of leftist movement over a period of years with the crowning of the uber liberal Obama, which is driving one of the final nails. He is the face of the movement that is in the shadows no longer in America. He is not the beggining and may not be the end, but he sure is trying to bring it!:)

Haliburton was a Clinton company BTW. contracts were extended under Bush because there are only two companies that can do what they do and the other is French (enough said). There is also economic downturns roughly every 7-9 years (end of 2 terms?). The question is how quiclky we start the recvory or do we make it worse. Obama is making it much worse now and in the long run. Triple national debt in one month, growth of government, unsolvency of SS moved up several years, devaluation of currency and on and on. No he didn't start it, but taking the mole hill and making it a Mt. Everst is his responsibility.

Also don't forget that under Bush the stock market hit record highs daily for nearly 3 years consecutivley and prosperity was at record levels. All that coming out of a recession and 911. Anyone with half a brain should have seen a correction coming that had to go down. Mitigating it is what we needed, eploiting it not si much. ;)

Like I've said, the numbers and time will show the reality that some refuse to see.

these days, the overwhelming majority of democrats have gotten the message (a lesson they had to learn harshly under clinton and the AWB, removing many of them from the senate)... in case you haven't noticed, now, in 2009, most democrat's and the obama administration's stance on the 2nd amendment and gun control is closer to pro-gun than anti-gun (maybe even in-line with your own views)... again, if you haven't noticed, currently there are bigger fish to fry.

Really? I believe while in the Illinois Senate, President Obama voted for every gun control measure that came before him. Not too long ago, I believe Speaker Pelosi made a comment about not wanting to confiscate all guns, just register them. Not to mention both the President and Vice President have spoken out in support of a renewed AWB. Somehow, that doesn't seem like "getting the message". Yes, there may be bigger fish to fry for them this exact moment, but don't be fooled; guns may not be the biggest fish on the stringer, but it's still on there.

if you're watching fox news too much, you might want to turn it off, or at least change the channel now and then...

I'd say the same thing about CNN, MSNBC, The Tennessean, etc...

the fact that the last administration (coincidentally republican, but NOT because of being republican) was gun law friendly doesn't excuse (1) getting us into an unnecessary war that's distracted us from getting bin laden and cost us thousands of young american lives over control of their oil (or making profits for halliburton),

I guess the fact that Saddam had violated 18 UN security council resolutions, refused to let weapons inspectors in, etc made it an unecessary war, didn't it? Yes, a lot of fine, brave young (and not so young) men and women have given their lives in Iraq. But if you'll look at the numbers, you'll find that casualties were actually down from years prior in 'peacetime', due, among other variables, to fewer training accidents.

As for the profits for Halliburton, would you go into a hostile, violent country to do their job for free? Yeah, they made money. But how many companies can do what they do, on the scale they do it? If you're so sure they were the wrong choice, what company would you have recommended with comparable capabilities.

(2) trashing our reputaion around the globe while making a mockery of our constitution through the patriot act, wide spread wire-tapping, and the use of torture,

Thought one on trashing our global reputation is, well...who cares? The world isn't a popularity contest. Just what have we done that made us so unpopular, anyway? Taking out a dictator that gassed his own people? Going after the terrorists that killed our own people? If that's unpopular, well...that's too bad. I can almost agree with you on the Patriot Act, it does indeed give the Federal Government far too much power, and I'd just as soon they did away with it.

But I don't see the issue with torture. Yeah, I said it. If you have a known terrorist that you've confirmed has information about an imminent attack on America, I would say do whatever you have to do to extract that information. If waterboarding doesn't work, remove some fingers, find new uses for a cattle prod, whatever. Do whatever it takes to get the information you need to save American lives. What'll happen? France will wag their finger at us? The UN will say "That's not very nice." Big whoop.

(3) tanking our economy through little to no oversight of the financial system (remember the movie "wall street", "greed is good...", coincidentally, reaching popularity under the "trickle down" reagan administration...) in the process

I don't know how to break this to you, but those evil 'trickle down' economics work. The owner of the company I work for makes a lot of money. As a result, he uses some of that money to employ my coworkers and I, so that he makes more money. No, we don't make as much as he does, but we also haven't worked as hard, taken the same risks, etc.

As for the economic troubles being caused by too little oversight, tell me just what, aside from the military, the government does well. The VA hospitals? Medicare/ Medicaid? Social Security? Government housing projects? More government oversight is not the answer. Letting the free market work is the answer. People that couldn't afford to buy houses bought houses. They couldn't pay for their houses. They lost them. Housing prices go down. People hurt. People learn a lesson. Due to lower house prices, new buyers that are financially stable have a great opportunity to buy houses. Did you know that right now, due to availability, prices, and mortgage interest rates, that this is probably the best time in 30 years to buy a house?

(4) ignoring the dual nuclear threats posed by both iran and north korea,

Yes, because our current President has done so much about both. He proposed that he'd speak to Iranian leaders without preconditions, and now they want him to meet their conditions before they'll come to the table. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't North Korea increased their nuclear testing and other activity lately, as well? Something like six lest launches last week?

(5) ...while burying us in debt to china, FORCING the obama administration to spend and (as a side effect) grow our deficit to avoid a modern day depression.

The Bush administration, with the Democratic congress toward the end, did spend a lot to keep us safe. But they didn't proverbially go over to the Chinese leaders with a beggars cup. They sold Treasury Bills, etc, and China, of their own free will, bought them. Why? Because at the time, the US Economy was a good place to put money. I'd love for you to explain to me how that forced the Obama administration to spend money. Heck, I'd like you to explain how the government spending us into oblivion will avoid another depression. It takes money out of the private sector of the economy, which over the long run will hurt us.

thanks to 8 years of bush/cheney (who kept us safe except for that 1 day in september 2001 they seem to forget happened while on their watch),

Yeah, Bill Clinton did a great job at that too, except for that one day in 1993 when the World Trade Center was bombed, or that bomb that was set off in Oklahoma City that one time in 1995, or the bomb that went off at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

guns are at the bottom of obama's list, and the least of his and our countries worries...

Even if they are at the bottom of his list (and that's debatable), they're on the list. Do you wait for the tornado to rip the roof off of your house before you seek shelter, or do you go find a safe place when the Tornado warning sounds?

(maybe instead of being hung up on hating obama and worrying about gun control you could throw a tea party on your way home from buying up all the ammo at wallymart to satisfy your paranoia

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't personally hate President Obama. I'm sure on a personal level, he's probably an alright guy to have a beer with. My problem is with his policies. Be they due to his inexperience, or just being misguided, they're a problem. A big problem.

now that obama has lowered taxes on most americans... oh... wait... nevermind)

Has he really? Did you know that the proposed cap and trade energy/ emissions bill currently working it's way through Congress (that the President supports, by the way) will increase the average American's yearly energy bill anywhere from 1200 to 3000 dollars? Yeah, that 8 bucks a week will sure help there. By the way, where's that money coming from. Oh, that's right. He raised taxes on the evil, bad rich people like my boss. Gues that explains why we won't be getting raises this year. Thanks, Mr. President!

honestly ask yourself if your stances are really fact and truly good for our country when engaging in dissent... and please remember, above all, being ignorant is un-american.

I have. Around the time I was in my late teens, I thought I was a Democrat. Then I actually looked at the facts, and evaluated my beliefs, and figured out where I really needed to be. I think people that believe America needs to stand strong are far better for our country than people that think we, the envy of the world, need to change and be more like the rest of the world. Yes, dissent is an important freedom in America. So why does everyone start with the wailing and cries of racism when people question what President Obama is doing?

I will also point out to you that the nation IS polarized right now to the left and right of moderate.

Yeah! I thought d*ckcheese was supposed to pull us all together and we'd be in the streets singing kumbaya together. Looks like things are more divided now than ever.

I just can't forget that day when the markets thought the 'stimulus' wasn't going to pass and they rallied, but then congress came back and approved that cr@p a few days later and the markets dived. That said it all right there.

I'll bet they've been having a good laugh at the Kremlin lately, watching us go socialist overnight. Just like Nikita Kruschev said long ago: 'We'll take them over without ever having to fire a shot'.

It's happening right before our eyes.

Your asking us to open our minds and see the wisdom of O yet admit that nothing we have posted (with facts not feeling mind you) is worthy of your review. So you have made up your mind, and want to step into this forum and throw down the "hear ye, hear ye, open your hearts and minds" and won't act in the exact manner you demand of others. Nice.

To top it off with the racist card sums up that you have read the leftist playbook and now can run it without cue cards.

Who "veiled" anything about anyone? I certainly have posted nothing racist. I wouldn't care if a blue eyed Aryan or a Asian or an African American espoused the views that Obama AND Biden do. I wouldn't like their policy. Period.

When he cuts back taxes, throws open fair market competition policy, quits bailing out failing ANYTHING, stops this insane card check crap and finishes up Iraq and Afghanistan, then I'll say he has done something. As that would be a polar opposite of how he ran and what has stated his agenda is, I guess I'm kinda locked in as the loyal opposition.

People – CK1 does have a valid point that there are more important issues to be concerned with, besides buying up ammunition.

After all, we are now led by an opportunistic socialist president, with a moron for vice president who’s only positive feature is the level of amusement he seems to provide whenever he opens his mouth … And let’s not forget third in the line of succession: Speaker of the House Pelosi, member of the house intelligence committee, but claims that the CIA lied to her, and is now in China pushing “Climate Change” (not that the Chinese give a **** about this made-up scam, nor would they be inclined to follow any environmental policies Pelosi would peddle).

Obama came into office playing on his race, pure and simple. Charming and charismatic, he swept the masses off their feet with promises of a new, open and transparent government. He had on his side the American media, who even now report nothing of concern about him or his administration. After all, the media has too much vested into his success ... after beating his drum throughout the campaign.

He didn't have to emphasize his race ... He had his staff, supporters and media do it for him. Funny how any opposition muttering his middle name (Hussein) was branded a racist. Funny how many people are scared of having that label pinned on them ... and how many liberals are quick to slap that label on anyone who dares speak against their man. The question of whether or not this country is ready for a black President is irrelevant. Of course it is - just not THIS President. He is a socialist, and an opportunist, who's played the people and the system his entire career to get where he is. Now that he's here, he's realizing that blaming his predesessor will only get him so far.

And now we have this transparency ... Oh yeah, the White House has only posted a few of the actions online (as opposed to the promise that all would be posted online for the American people to review); and NO lobbyists in the administration ... Oh yeah, except for the ones that Obama made exceptions for. Lack of oversight? How about government control over the banks and auto industry, while the Secretary of the Treasury has expressed interest in taking control of other business - not under threat - that he deems critical. Oh, right, and he's going to go after tax cheats (with the exception of himself, and about half of the Obama administration appointees who were knocked out of play)

CK1 is correct … The trashed U.S. reputation around the world is best served by a man who has kowtowed to every national leader he has met. His “Apology Tour” to Europe did wonders for repairing America’s reputation … His bow to the Saudi leader was a wonderful touch. No problem that Iran, North Korea, Russia and Venezuela all mock us … Our world-wise leader will make it all right again.

Come to think of it, I never really gave a **** what the world thought of us. Since when does France or Spain’s feelings towards America mean anything? Unlike the First Lady, I’ve always been proud of my country. Not just as an adult, but as a child as well. I grew up reciting the Pledge of Allegiance each morning to the American flag, and love my country so much that I joined the military when I was able to at age 17.

Rather than work about ammo, as CK1 points out, we could wait for that big tax break CK1 points out that Obama gave us all. Oh wait, many Americans DON’T pay taxes, and instead are being given money courtesy of those of us who work hard and earn. Those big Obama tax breaks will really come in handy! Oh wait … he wants Cap and Trade scheme in place, by which we’ll all be hit with increases in costs for heating and cooling our homes, higher prices at the fuel pump, and will pay even more for goods and services – courtesy of higher business costs resulting from the cap and trade scheme.

Don’t worry about buying up the ammo at Wallyworld, as CK1 points out … be more concerned about buying up those commodities that may grow more scarce after Obama and his cohorts go after American businesses, and these businesses pack up and head overseas.

CK1, engaging in dissent from the administration is very patriotic and American. Our Founding Fathers were the epitome of rightful political dissenters.

Remember, while the rights of all Americans are indeed extended to us through the Bill of Rights, these rights may be lost if an apathetic society allows it. There are many liberals and others with self-serving interests who would gladly see some of our basic rights scaled back or eliminated.

The others posted here are right … You drink too much Kool Aid. Or maybe you have little else more constructive to do than to try to get a rise out of other people. Perhaps you're sitting at your computer now, having a good snicker about "riling up all the redneck gun nuts." What the hell, you had enough of an effect on me to get me to commit the time to put these thoughts to paper (in a manner of speaking).

But then again, misguided or not, you're entitled to your opinion.

This is a great truth. There was an opinion piece in Pravda yesterday (5/30/09) about this very issue. They cited poor education, pop culture, etc as the reasons for the change to socialism and generally mocked our foolishness. I am old enough to remember the Kruschev "We will bury you" speech.

It appears that old Nikita and Joe McCarthy were right. Let's work hard to reverse this sorry state of affairs.

PS -- I really like this quote on ewpking's post; its great, and sadly true: "When the eagles are silent, the parrots (read: fools) begin to jabber" - Winston Churchill

Keep up the good work,

Kind regards,
