What should one run? Blued, not sure if it's American made or Italian, so what you you say for each type?

I have a friend who has one and has mentioned that he may be willing to sell it. I love the 96, so I'm thinking about it, but I'd like to have some idea of what's fair for it.

Thanks guys!

Depends on a lot.

96 D? FS? F?

Is it a plain 96 or is it a Brigadeer?

Is it a police special? (you can find an impression Ps in a shield on it if it is, unless one of the newer ones.)

Biggest question, how much does he want for it? You can pm me if you don't want it advertized here.

It's DAO, so I'm guessing that means it's a 96D. I don't think it's a brigadier or police model. I haven't seen it yet, but he only buys stuff that is in excellent shape. I'm going to try to talk to him about it next week.

I'm not worried about it being posted here. He doesn't check the boards.

On another note: I just got word from my renters (between my first post and this one) that they have to break their lease and are going to back to Florida. No sense trying go after them for breach of contract or anything because they've got nothing to go after, so I'm just screwed now. That puts the ixnay on any gun purchase for me. :poop::mad::death::drool::down::D:(:taunt::yuck::bat::rant:;):puke::wall::devil: (I'm just a wee bit miffed, in case you can't tell.)

Anyways, I would still like to know what you think regarding prices. Maybe something else will come up and maybe someday I'll have some dad-blasted cash again.

If it's a retail gun (not police special) used would be , crap can't find my gun book.

I'll tell you I paid 350.00 + tax and TICS for a 96d Brig (worth a little more) from one of our vendors here. Marked used but could not tell it.

I've also paid 499 for a NIB police special from a now closed gun store. (now it was a 92fs, not a 96D)

Yes 96D is a DAO, accurate as all get out, and if you find a way to get it I have a brand new set of factory grips I could send you if your's are messed up.

Now if your gonna pass on it:p, I might be interested in it myself. Beretta's are fine firearms and I would not be opposed to adding another to my herd.

Thanks for all the info guys! Just what I was looking for.

Dr, if he is willing to sell and I can't buy it in the next few weeks/month, I'll put in a word for you. :)

Man I sure wish I could find a "poor" $150 Beretta 96!!!!

Yea me too. Let's just say "book" prices on a Beretta are not accurate.
