I'm planning on purchasing reloading equipment, and I have had this press recommended to me. Who has experience with it, and is it a good press?

It is a great press. All Dillon presses are awesome. The only thing I could say bad about the 550 is that it is not auto indexing. Caliber change is really easy and quick.

Actually I wouldn't say bad. You just need to be a little more careful not to double charge. But you always need to be careful when reloading. ; )

Very good press. I had a little trouble setting it up, but once I understood all the moving parts, it was a breeze! Highly recommend. Be sure to have plenty of reloading supplies. You will go through them quite fast.

A couple things you might want in addition to the press:

- extra primer tubes

- primer flip tray

- bullet holding tray

What caliber(s) will you be loading?

.308, 223, and 9mm. Perhaps .338 LAPUA in the future if wifey allows it. :D

Let us know when you get the press. I can walk you through the .223 setup. I'm loading .223 and .40S&W.

The only problem I had with the Dillon when I owned one was with the powder measure. I have heard that they have since fixed it. IIRC, the charge bar would stick.

I would love to find another one used.
