This is what I was thinking:

That would look sharp. I will say, however, that the Norell's product is far superior in terms of durability to Duracoat, but it has to be oven cured. They have an air-dry product but I haven't messed with it yet.

Duracoat would work fine on that stock but I'm not sure how long it would last. A while, I'd think. But eventually it will start to show scratches.

How would you oven cure a plastic stock?:D

Lower temperature, longer cure time. It can't be done with the thermally cured moly-resin, though. It has a minimum temperature that would likely exceed the recommended maximum for that stock.

Hey TGODavid - what are you using as a media blaster? Did you already have one or pick something up?

I bought a media blaster from an industrial supplier.

Color me jealous!

I'm thinking of refinishing my SKS and my MN's but am unsure whether blasting the old surface is necessary or not - have you refinished/duracoated anything that old/worn yet? Do you think media blasting is necessary if the surface is clean (only some nicks and scratches in the original bluing)? Are you willing to media blast stuff for folks (for a fee, of course)?

If I need to start a new thread, just lemme know...

I've cleaned up some non-firearms related old material (classic car stuff) and had no issues with it, but haven't refinished anything like that per se. Media blasting, even if only at a very low pressure and not enough to totally strip a finish down to the metal, can only help on most sprayed coatings as it gives a rough texture that allows the new finish to adhere properly.

Are you taking orders or what? I have a Romak and several Mosins that I would love to get re-finished. Let me know if you have time to take on some more work. I am sure that you are getting a flood of requests.

I'm still interested in throwing a CZ52 out there for some refinishing. Any idea on a cost? What I gotta do?

It's in a million pieces right now anyway.
