I'll try to get some up tomorrow. I left my gear in my buddy's truck. An interesting occurrence.

Strange you should ask. I had it happen to me yesterday, really don't know why. I was shooting a ruger mkll bull barrell pistol and all at once the sound was a lot louder and the action jamed open. I do know the ammo I was using was very old cci 22, I reloaded after clearing jam with newer ammo and didn't have a problem.

Curious. Mine was some older Remington Golden. Maybe the primer they coat the shell with is beocoming unstable?

Twice , both times with Remington ammo . shot from a marlin 60 . goes to show you need safety glasses

+1. If had not been wearing glasses it could have been a problem.

At the Meet and Shoot this month, I had a Remington Thunderbolt that did not chamber fully. It fired out of battery in my AR(.22Ceiner Kit). Ruptured the case. Smoke and gasses came out of every part of that AR. Felt the gas hit my face from the charging handle. No shooting glasses, but had my RX glasses on. No damage to me or AR.

Yes...really old stuff only. 50 years old or so

It seems that rimfire primers change a bit over half a century...or they slowly attack the brass.

Whatever reason...unlike centerfire they do actually get old.
