Have you seen the new bottle yet?

We visited the Distillery this past weekend and I admit that I hadn't seen it before now and must have missed the email that they sent out earlier this year to the Squires.

After seeing it in the Distillery I decided that I needed to stop by and pick up a boxed bottle at one of the local stores on our way home. I guess this means I need to finish off the old bottle that I already have opened in our cupboard.

Any other Single Barrel fans here? :)

I'm not a drinker, however when you empty that one how about rinsing it out and sending it to me, I'll fill it with colored water, that's a nice looking bottle.

I gave up on all Jack products when Brown Foreman caved in and started making nothing but 80 proof thereby disregarding generations old standards for quality in the product.

You have gotten some wrong information. Black label went from 87 proof to 80 proof. But single barrel is still 94 proof. Arko here is some more info of the decision to change JD Black Label.

Glad to hear you had a good time David. I have been to the tour too many times to count but I still like going down to Lynchburg. Did you make a visit to the Squire room? Were their any new goodies? I was surprised to see the new Single Barrel bottle when I did because I had heard nothing about it comming out? I guess I missed the e-mail also? Anyway it is a great looking bottle. There is an awesome special edition one on ebay right now that is a tribute bottle to Frank Bobo and Jimmy Bedford, the last two master distillers. I hope to make another trip to Lynchburg sometime in June. Link to master distiller bottle below.

Never had any Single Barrel, but like Jack in the Black and Gentlemen Jack...I'm sure this would be just as good.

I prefer Gentlemen Jack myself. Tour was great. Going to take sister-n-law and her husband there in a month when they come to visit from California.

As I had said in another thread...

It was a pleasure to visit and tour the JD at Lynchburg. We went on a group ride from my hospital, Chatty - Lynchburg and back. Fun time! The aroma when they cracked open the vats got me hooked. I was and am a single malt guy, but the tradition and history, along with the unique taste certainly calls.

To those who have not, the JD tour is a must if you are in the area.

Yep, I visited the Squire's Room again this time and noticed a few new items on display. I figure they probably rotate things in and out of there because of the sheer volume on hand. Perhaps we can get all of the TGO squires to autograph a hat sometime in the near future and donate that to the room. :(
