The compact has officers frame (7 shot mag). The pro has full size frame (8 shot mag).

Both have the commander sized slide and barrel (4.25").

Main difference is concealability of the smaller grip (compact).

Slow typer, HexHead beat me to it.

He's also going to correct you. :drool:B);)

Kimber doesn't offer a true Commander size 4.25" barrel with a bushing. They use a 4" bull barrel. It's a small, but notable difference. It was one of the reasons I sold my Pro Carry.

Thanks for the advice Kegger. I've been looking to add a Kimber but haven't found anything local or at the online dealers I've checked. My local gun shop said it would take six months to get one. Any one.

I've got a Pro CDP II...love it! It keep's my side nice and toasty daily! Everyone seemed to cover the only differences that I know between the two.

I have a Compact Custom, one of the older guns . . . have shot it side-by-side with a buddy's Pro Carry II and can't tell a difference in how they shoot.

My gun is a steel-frame model, his is aluminum, but the difference in recoil was negligible. He did say after a couple of days' trade that he found my gun conceals better because of the short grip . . . Duh, that's why I carry it! :stunned:
