Time to start a topic for the September meet. September 15 is the third Saturday.

If we follow the normal pattern, we'll be back at Kingsport at Mark's place. That right Mark and Tower?

I'll be in Bristol for the Rhythm & Roots Reunion helping my wife sell jewelry.

As far as I know it will be.

I've been doing some work down in the clearing, I've cut down about 9 trees, and have a few more to cut and clean up, Sue (marks wife) wants it so that she can mow it with the riding mower. I will also have a picnic table set up and of course the long gun rack, as well as target frames for 4 pistol as well as 2 lanes for rifle (approx. 150 meters).

all the undergrowth will be gone and you guys should find it quite enjoyable!

no more hillbilly gun range!!!

Posted

if it was a hillbilly gun range I never noticed. I thought it was a great place to shoot, very private and secluded. And anyway it was a great time. As always I look forward to it.

So, I need some transport arrangements and I'd be set. I think my trend will be a new gun every time plus the .22 rifle and pistol. I'm, if I go, taking a .270.

C.A.S., hope you can make it. Looking forward to meeting you all when I'm home. I put in a relief request today, so if the detailer is on the ball, I'll be headed your way on the 25th October.

MolonLaveTN - if your better half is coming, I'll get someone to prep one of the CMP carbines for her to try.

I won't know until the week before whether I'll be able to make it... Like this last time, I didn't know until the day before.

Anyone near me going and have room for one more? (And two rifles and a pistol)

We'll be in Gatlinburg that weekend running Ashley's parent's shop while they're out of town so I guess thats 3 in a row we'll miss. I'll put in for the third Saturday of October at work nice and early for next time though.

There's a gun show that weekend at the expo center that I'll be at on Saturday. Too bad, I'd like to meet some of you fellows.

Its ok boost, we'll be down in knoxville NEXT month!

the CMP carbines are prepped and ready for the range,

we have company this weekend, so I haven't been able to do much down on the range, but it will be shipshape ,Bristol fashion, with 4 firing points for handguns and 2 firing points for long guns, by the time of the shoot.

:P

Awesome, as long as it's not the weekend of fall break I'll be there.

CAS says - I need some transport arrangements and I'd be set

Cody I will be happy to let you ride with me. My only hitch is I cannot confirm 100% I will be going until Sept. 13. But I am pretty sure I will be going.

Let me know.

I'm game.

If we can decide where I shall be picked up. My (and Mom's) travel knowledge is limited to Oak Ridge and Clinton, largely.

I had a curveball thrown at me tonight about the 15th.

I did not realize that the 15th is my grandsons birthday. I am real bad on dates.

I don't see the big deal. It is not like he isn't going to be five and would even know what day it is. I suggested whatever happens for his birthday happen Sunday.

Geez when you are my grandson everyday is your birthday anyway, lol.

I am posturing and still trying to work it out.

I never have any parties on my birthday. Of course, March 6th doesn't land in the weekends often. I just do something the weekend before, or simply collect gifts throught the month (due to lazy friends). Heck, if Tower doesn't have a problem it, nor does his parents, you could just bring him along. I always take my .22 rifle and pistol.

Now, Tower, would you have a problem with my bringing an old stereo that has water damage? We were going to throw it away anyway, so why not put it to use.

Damn... I'll be out of town for a conference.

Posted

CAS, how old is the stereo? I'm an electronics tech.

If you want to use it as a target, fine - just please don't leave anything behind. That glen is where the scouts will be camping later in the year.

Hope you can arrange a ride!

The stereo is pretty damn old, we've had it since we moved, about 5 or 6 years ago. Three CD changer, but it's all messed up and has been for a year, not to mention it was sitting out on the porch when we had that big rain storm, and it probably got soaked (I didn't go outside). We were throwing it out anyway, and mom suggested it.

What do you guys think of these?

Hey Mark, I once helped a friend "ambush" some CAP cadets who "stumbled upon a drug patch" as part of their training. If you like, I could organize a scout ambush at your place. :D

Cas,

The range belongs to Mark@sea! I will state categorically that infants do NOT belong on a gun range.. there isn't any way we can provide hearing protection and unless someone is devoted to watching them 100% of the time then it isn't feasible in the first place.

there's a no burn ban in Tn. right now, so I'll be using the logs and brush that I've cut to build bullet traps for the pistol lanes.

as for the exploding scarecrow stuff... the minimum safe distance is 75 yards...so I'm sorry to say that its not a good idea..the range isn't large enough to support that sort of stuff.

Sorry Cody!

What brought up the mention of infants?

What brought up the mention of infants?

Most likely from Mark.357 mentioning that his grandson would be turning 5 yrs old... and then you stated to bring him along to the gathering, where bullets would be zinging around.

Okay. Though ,that's where I started, even if it was only in the side yard and papaw's.

So, bringing up an old question, Mike, where can you pick me up? Corryville is a 41 minute drive from my house, or longer including traffic.
