C.I.S. Advanced Conceal Carry

I had originally planned to take the handgun class from Safety South last weekend, but I wasn't able to make it. So I signed up for this class. Great class, Todd and Dustin did a great job. While I was hoping to fire more rounds than I did, I think we fired 175-200 rounds, it was the best 200 rounds I have ever fired. I have been shooting for less than a year, and I have been to the range at least twice a month since. But I think I learned more today, than I have in all those range sessions combined. Now I can make better use of my range time by working on the things from this class. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Equipment wise this class has got me thinking about getting away from a DA/SA pistol for my EDC.

Thanks, Dude. :P

I have to say that I will always agree with shooting more rounds. Like a smart guy once said, "Practicing correctly makes perfect :usa:." (or something like that) Today's Advanced Concealed Carry class probably could've been called Basic Concealed Carry because the basic foundations for concealed carry practices were covered and introduced in the class, but it is up to each individual to advance their own skills with practice. I thought that Todd and Dustin were very complete in their preparation for the course. They were very thorough in their instructions and demonstrations of exercises they wanted us to do. They were understanding and patient with all the students from very new shooters to the more experienced shooters. I plan to take the course again someday with one of the other methods of concealed carry that I commonly use. I look forward to learning how other people perform with methods of concealment that I have considered in the past. I think anyone who carries a gun everyday could benefit from this class. I was glad to find a class that could pick up where the handgun safety courses left off. With much more practice, I'll someday be ready to take the Defensive Pistol class. All in all, it was a great day and money well spent. I look forward to taking my next class from them.

Hey Shima,

I'm curious, what was your method of carry today?

In other words, were some people IWB, while others were OWB? Did some practice from a pocket presentation?

Just curious because my methods switch up from time to time between all three, but always concealed. Can you mix and match within the confines of this class instruction?

Thanks. Todd, you're welcome of course to chime in!

I want to take this class, no doubt.

Shima, thanks for your thoughts.

Concerning the class name...you're right, there is no rocket science in the material covered. However, if we had named it "Basic Concealed Carry" we would be having people confuse it with our "Handgun Carry Permit" class.

"Advanced Concealed Carry" was chosen, not to sound "tacticool", but to show that it is something beyond HCP.

Bronker, you can mix and match.

My primary method for the class was weak side pocket carry with a J Frame revolver. Next time, probably Smart Carry with the J frame.

Thank you, boys.

I'm prone to go j-frame from smartcarry and weak pocket myself from time to time.

I do want to take this class, no doubt.

Happiness really is a warm gun at that point.

Just don't carry a Glock there because you know the Glock will have an AD that will cause you to lose all cool points with the ladies.:drama:

I was fortunate enough to be in this class. I learned a lot and had a great time. I will definitely be back for more training with CIS.

Todd and Dustin are excellent instructors. They clearly know their stuff and they know how to teach. That's a rare combination.

I can't recommend this highly enough.
