Senator Jackson does an excellent job while Ronal Serpas makes a fool of himself. He asks "are there any studies?....any real data on O Charley's not being a safe place"?

Apparently he doesn't read the local news...

Earlier story: Robber kills O'Charley's manager on The Murfreesboro Post

I do have a problem with the shorter amount of time that they gave Serpas. He should have had equal time to make an even bigger fool of himself.

278 out of 220,000 is 0.12636363636363637 %. Not a bad record for permit holders.

The first video locked up after a while but I'm glad he mentioned the 40 other states that allow permit holders to carry in establishments that serve alcohol with no problems.

Thank you Senator Jackson, and I also have to thank WKRN channel 2 for interviewing him and giving our side a chanch to be heard.

What they will not cover is that if the bar or eatery posts no carry, you cant carry in there regardless. Those that carry illegally already do. Serpas is a liberal, marching in line with dean and bredesen.

+1

Serpas won't even begin to attempt looking at this from a HCP carrier's perspective the way Sen. Jackson did. He'd rather you just lay down and die if SHTF in an O'Charlie's while he sips liberally from the :P

Serpas said I'm all for the 2nd amendment but you should not be able to carry a gun into O'Charlies.

How can any of his officers respect him?

Lot's probably don't. When he talks about he and the chiefs of Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga all being against it, you have to remember that every time the Brady Campaign or any of those anti-gun groups back a bill to erode our rights, the Police Chief's Association ALWAYS endorses their proposals. They've never seen an anti-gun bill they didn't like. They take the attitude that ONLY the police should have guns.

IF they were elected and not appointed they would not be able to get away with it.

Serpas has actively LOBBIED the legislature to block the passage of the bill. He should find a job up north...or in CA.

Funny, I don't remember the Constitution saying that there is this "different class of people" (like Levites in the Bible) that would be allowed to bear arms while the rest of us wouldn't....

It's funny that a lot of officers are all for people being able to carry, but police chief's are against it...

Senator Jackson did an outstanding job.

Serpas however......

"I mean look at every old west movie. The fights always broke out in the bar after they've been drinking."

And this is your justification? Do you base your crime solving techniques on Who Framed Roger Rabbit too? :D

Anyone who uses something they saw in a movie as justification for anything other than a reason to/not to watch it is using poor judgment, thereby nullifying the "common sense approach" argument.

OMG, he's in charge, and basis his opinions off of what he's seen in old Hollywood western movies? - Is he for real? - Seems like he'd have some nugget of fact to anchor his argument. - Unbelievable!
