No shortage of shotgun shells

There is certainly no shortage of shotgun shells. WalMart is full to the gills. I think I need a little home defense shotgun, or one of those Taurus Judges!

Yep, a scattergun with #4 or larger makes a fine all around tool.

Based on my recent trips to Wal-Mart, Academy, Dicks, etc, they have plenty of the shells that I don't need/want. I've been having a heck of a time finding 00 Buck, 000 Buck, and slugs. And trying to find those shells in 3" has proven even more difficult.

I just got a mossberg 500. Walmart has a ton of 2 3/4 7 and 8 shot, but almost no 00, 000, #1 buckshot for home defense. I am going to have to order some online for that. If you are looking at a Judge, the same thing applies. There are a ton of 6 shot, but the spread out of a judge is pretty large. You need 00 buck. I had to order that from Cabellas, but it was backordered for 2 weeks. The .45 LC has really jumped up in price too. I guess that is a response to the popularity of the Judge.

Hope this isn't too far off topic.......maybe someone here has tried this.......I had a couple old timers tell me that they used to score around a 12ga shell just behind the shot load and it would act like a slug because the shot would stay enclosed in the hull. Anybody ever try it? I was always too chicken.

Stockpiling up on 410ga. long shells. Already have 6 or 7 boxes....

Scoring works. It is an old form of making aemi slug from a regular shell.

Best I ever see for 00 or rifled slugs around here are 3.99 for 5 or the Remington 15 packs for nine bucks at Wally's...

I got tired of picking up a few at a time, wanted stash, so got a bunch from ATG several weeks ago.

Got:

250rds - 12 Gauge Federal LE Tactical Full Power 2 3/4 Hydra-Shok Slug

250rds - 12 gauge NobelSport LE 2 3/4 12 pellet 00 Buckshot

250rds - 12 gauge Fiocchi 2 3/4 High Velocity Nickel Plated 00 BuckShot

That Nobel Sport is really hot stuff, kicks like 3.5 incher, even though also is only 2 3/4" and with TWELVE pellets in there....some really concentrated gunpowder for sure.

Anyway, came out to about .75/shell counting shipping...
