Nothing, all I would do is walk by and look at them, like most other machinery I come into contact with, it would simply stop working.

A bucket of water.

I noticed the AR weapons taking them on in the previews as well. My guess is it is all about the 'ammo' type or something to explain that or else the first 3 movies make no sense at all since the AR was about as effective against them as a BB gun.

To be fair, the Terminator units in the upcoming movie are technically less-advanced, predecessor units to the ones featured in any of the previous Terminator movies. In fact, this new movie seems to focus on the design and implementation of the T-800 (i.e. the Governator), and this movie seems to take place chronologically earlier than when SkyNet sends back the T-800 Model 101 to kill John Connor (especially given that Kyle Reese is younger in this movie).

As usual, the Terminator series' dicking around with time is ham-handed and occasionally confusing...

Yea but it sounded like the upgrades were more cosmetic when he talks about it in the first movie. Not that it was a tougher bot but rather it just was able to look human and even had bad breath.
