We were founded as a constitutional republic, but have become a socialst democracy.

I believe we live in historic times. We will either go full tilt socialist dictatorship or go back to being a constitutional republic. The media isnt covering it ... but the citizenry is tiring of BIG BROTHER.

In principle, we are a constitutional Republic. In practice, we are something much, much different.

"...and to the Republic, for which it stands..."

Unfortunately Unreconstructed1 is dead on. In a Republic the government wouldnt bail out car companies and banks.

buzzer sound....

Actually we are a representative Republic as stated above.

I sat my three boys down and showed them the video tonight. The 12 year old was unimpressed but the 15 and 16 year old appeared to get something from it. Great video to show to the uneducated public school of today student.

You sir are are great parent. :P

It would be great if a history or civics teacher would show this in their class. Do they still have civics classes? In today politically correct schools it may be their last day to teach!

Thank You Greenego

I do try.

I had a "pre test" before showing the video and asked all three young men what type of govt we had. All three and then their mother answered Democracy...I then said are you sure and ran through the video. It scared me that they're schools are not even trying to teach the facts anymore. It's akin to calling all sodas "coke", current teachers really do think that because we are (were) a free country and the term democratic has been bandied about so often, that must be what it is. They don't even know they are teaching the wrong information!

We also had a test during the video where I asked them if we all wanted to vote on what time they had to go to bed. It confused them a moment and I urged them to just state "what time do you all want to vote yourselves as a bed time, would you like to just decide how late you can stay up". They all said they would love to be able to set their own time. I then showed them that we are NOT a democracy in this house hold either. I set the time so that they are able to get up and perform at school the next day, a minimum amount of control but neccessary....and this is why we are slipping away from a stable and productive country. As we elect politicians that will allow the people to vote for what they want with no moral or ethical backing to it, soon there will be no one who is producing the very things everyone has demanded be given to them. Then it's mobs in the streets and anarchy. I seriously fear my boys will be involved in the final days of our representative republic and have to participate in the anarchy that will follow the demise of this once proud nation. The rest of my tinfoil thoughts will have to remain unvoiced, but yeah, if you're a parent you have to be thinking the same very scary things I do about your kids futures.

The only thing that seemed to bother me was the fact that when the speaker spoke of constitutional conservitist and placed photos of such as Kennedy and Reagan, that the presumtion was they were moderate conservitives.. I would have to beg to differ with that statement. It is though the speaker is trying to ingrain the idea that we conservitives are really moderates.. to which if you look.. we are not! I feel that it is another ploy, even though he is explaining the systems of gov.. You have to remember that in reality, a constitutional conservitive in this country is considered a rightwing advocate. But the film is trying to, at least as I see, to tame that ideal and make people believe that a consititutional conservitive is a moderate.. and we all know from watching history, that moderates aren't with a dang.

So, I feel it is another ploy to soften the right and make it more complacent with the left..

Oh, and Yeah,.. "can't we just get along"!

Froogy,

What he was trying to convey is that according to the political matrix portrayed in MAX govt to the left and NO govt to the right, our system of republic is moderate. Within our representative based republic we have those that seek more govt (we call them libs now) and those that seek less, conservatives. He was just showing that on the scale from totalitarianism to anarchy, we fall in a narrow band in the middle. When you compare Kennedy and Reagan as to their political beliefs to Stalin or an anarchist you see there is a big gulf from those two presidents as compared to the Communist or Anarchist systems

Very interesting video. This country is already on the road to Oligarchy. Just one look at the Federal deficit is enough to show how out of control the Federal government is, and how states rights have been minimized. Our public school systems daily schew and fail to teach our own country's history as people in high places push towards socialism and hence really oligarchy. This kind of video is what ought to be taught in our schools.

The term in the video, I think, was "constitutional moderates" meaning in the grand scheme of things, between anarchy and oligarchy, the whole list of American presidents is in the middle ground. All American presidents, a fortiori, have been constitutional officers in the moderate band of the spectrum between the ends.

I'd have to disagree with this assertion. Considering that our current (nearly historic) system is comprised of only two major parties, our Presidents are mere democratic demagogues.

This is what "they" want.

Love the video. I have always struggled with the difference between the two. This video is very simple in its explanation....even Nancy Pelosi could understand it.
