Mike is right. I remember Okey was working on one a while back for a similar problem, but I don't remember what he wound up doing to it.

My Frankford Arsenal tumbler is about 10 years old and never gave a problem. Couldn't be much wrong with it if the motor works.

I don't know. I know he's doing stainless now on some stuff. I'm probably headed that way myself.

hornadt rcbs and mid south are made by vibra-shjnr in me pretty good tumblers i deal in lyman as i stand behind everything i selli have never got a lyman back cant say that about any other brand including dillon

​Well, good news for now ... I opened up the panel on the base of the tumbler and spun the fan around a few times, flipped the switched, and it started working. The connections seemed to be fine, but I'll take a better look when I have more time. When I loaded it with media and brass, it didn't start up properly as soon as I flipped the switch, but it did after about 10-15 seconds. It will give me a chance to find something I like and hopefully on sale and not order something "just because".

Natchez has the Battanfield tumbler kit for $70. Looks like my Franklin. I get the walnut shell media from petco.

Its probably good to support reloading companies "just because", however harbor freight had some tumblers last time I was in there. Some of the harbor freight stuff is pretty awful. Ferinstance, from my experience don't buy an HF sawblade and if you buy a HF saw it isn't a bad idea to immediately replace the blade with a USA or European-made blade.

OTOH some of the HF stuff works as good as anything else. Tumblers are not high tech items.

Yes it is difficult to judge without trying. A lot of their stuff has similar specs to Home Depot Ryobi or Sears tools, and wouldn't be real surprised to discover they all come from the same factories. But china quality is associated with price point and even china can't make something good if you cut the price too low. Also if an importer enforces strict QC standards on imports it works better.

A few HF tools that have worked good for the money for me--

A 12" sliding miter saw that was 1/3 the price of a made-somewhere-else Dewalt, that still works fine after building a full set of kitchen cabinets, a walk-in closet overhaul, and several other large built-in cabinets in the house. Replace the blade before use unless you like burning wood.

The little hand-held bandsaw might not be as good as a Milwaukee, but it has cut a lot of aluminum and steel and ain't broke yet. Replace the blade before use.

Have killed several small hand-held belt sanders. The only one I ain't killed is the big Porter Cable sander, but the little ones might as well be made by Bic. The HF small belt sanders seem to survive about as long as "name brand" small belt sanders.

Have had a lot of fun with the HF Minilathe, and it ain't broke yet.

I really like Dewalt drills and nailers and such, but sometimes for light use can't justify Dewalt or Milwaulkee prices.

Dunno if the HF vibratory tumblers work worth beans.

I have had very high quality blank circuit boards made in China, and they were half the price of the ones made in the US. The option was provided by the company I was using at the time. I one case, I had the prototypes done in the US, and the production run done in China, so I was able to compare quality. They weren't consumer grade products though.

I use a rock tumbler and small stainless pins as tumbling media, the combo works great. Tumbler was "free" since had bought it years ago to tumble rocks with the kids. I've had a Frankford tumbler for 3 years and Its died on me a couple times both times its been a wire broke inside

i use a cheap Harbor Freight tumbler w walnut shells

does about 400-500 cases at a time and runs well ,cost me less than 50 bucks

and I got the 5 year warrenty
