Re the OP from Page 1, I am joining the chorus and calling BS on the instructor. Not so. A bank is private property, same as a WalMart, and the owner/prop has the option to post it, period, and must do so prominently. Then the instructor is correct. Most CCW instructors are very impressive, lots of experience and street creds. Its a shame one can spoil the rep of many good ones.

Another peeve, some classes might have an insurance rep conveniently available to sell professional "liability" policies to students after the mandatory legal liability portion. I wonder how many of the insurance reps are friends/relatives of the CCW vendors? Is this a legit service or just a kickback scheme? Like auto dealer extended warranties, much of the initial premium is a profit load for the salesman. I'm not down on insurance, just very pro-full-disclosure to the public.

FYI...

There is NO "professional liability policies" that will cover a student or citizen in the state of Tennessee in a case where a handgun is used in self defense or defense of a third party. The use of such handgun would be an intentional act and Insurance doesnt cover an intentional act in this state.

Just an FYI... :)

I think he may be talking about something like this that is available to NRA members.

And regarding insurance, since there is no right to sue if you shoot someone, why worry about it for a justified shooting? :-)

That is not 100% accurate. They can still sue you. The law just says if it it ruled justified they judge can award you certain fees and monies for having to defend yourself against the suit.

I don't plan on it, either. Hopefully I'll never be in one because I spend about 2 minutes in a bank per week and lets just say my bank account won't let them retire anytime soon.

I believe properly trained individuals that pass the background check and everything else that is required, should be able to carry in church, school, parks,& restaurants that serve alcohol. Gun free zones are killing zones. I just think we all should consider being very very mindful of our weapons and how we choose to carry and try to be responsible with our weapons so nobody gets a hold of it and uses it for something other than self defense.

+1 for educate versus legislate!

Had my class at EPB also. Was told that by Jack and wondered about it. Talked to some LEO friends and found out differant. It is legal to carry in banks as long as you have your HCP. Jack does have a lot of training, knows a lot of the laws, but he is wrong in this point.
