Ruger Red Label

Recommended Posts

My brother in law just gave me a Ruger Red Label o/u 12ga. It looks beautiful, like new. He keeps very good care of his weapons. A serial # check on the Ruger website indicates a 1986 manufacture date. The barrels are fixed choke and are stamped "skeet".

The last time I did any serious shotgunning was almost 20 years ago when I shot skeet with a Remington 1100. Would this Ruger be a good gun to get back into skeet/trap with? Any other info that would be useful on this gun? BTW I still own the 1100.

Red Labels are well made, quality o/u's. The only con I hear about them is their weight. As long as it swings good, it would be a great gun to start shooting skeet with.

I would not use it for trap with fixed skeet chokes. I f you want one gun for both skeet and trap then sell the Red Label and get an o/u with removable chokes.
