1891 Argentine Mauser + Ammo - Nashville

Sporterized Argentine 1891 Mauser with 76rds of ammo - $350 or trade (see below)

Picked this up many years ago in college, always wanted a Mauser and there she was. I’ve put maybe 50 rds down the barrel. This was sporterized many decades ago. I believe there was a company that imported them and made the following modifications:

-Front and rear sight replaced

-Rubber buttpad added

-Original walnut stock was cut back to give it a carbine look. That means the stock has also probably been refinished at some point.

Condition:

-All numbers matching that I could find (including the stock)

-Some very light pitting and missing bluing but no rust. Most of the gun has a blue/bronze patina.

-Excellent bore with strong rifling (forgot to take a pic, available on request)

-2 cracks in the stock. They’ve not changed in size since I owned it.

Some features:

-Has square cut thumb safety with good texture

-Liquid smooth mauser action with a curved bolt

-5rd magazine accepts stripper clips (I always hand loaded rounds)

Historically, a significant rifle. One of the first to use stripper clips, and Mauser used many features developed for this rifle in the 98k and beyond. This particular example has Argentine inspection markings.

It will come with 76rds of ammo. I’ve never had problems finding ammo, though it does tend to run about $1 a round these days.

I find it has a good weight and balance, and includes sling points on the stock - many people have used these as affordable deer rifles over the decades. I just don’t have space for it and would like to pick up a Garand

I will consider trades for milsurp, plinkers, and functioning old guns. I’ve got a sweet spot for pocket guns and Berettas. Can trade up or down for cash.

Meet in Davidson County, or nearby counties for established members. Must be 18 years old, a Tennessee resident, and legally able to own a firearm. I will ask to see a drivers license or carry permit.

Thanks for looking, and feel free to message me with questions.

⚠️ Safety Reminder for Buyers and Sellers ⚠️

This is an automatic reply meant to protect you as a buyer and a seller on TGO.

  • Use the Buyer/Seller Feedback feature to research who you are dealing with.   Please come back and leave feedback for each other after the transaction is complete.  Your experience will help others.

  • Never agree to use an electronic form of payment to buy or sell a gun!  None of the electronic payment services will protect you against fraud in a firearms transaction.  They all have terms of service FORBIDDING the use of their services to buy/sell guns.  DON'T DO IT.

  • Be very wary of anyone who insists on brokering a deal in private or outside of TGO.  Scammers almost always prefer to operate out of the public eye.
