My wife and I will be passing through the McMinnville area on a Saturday night and we are wondering where we should eat. If you guys have any recommendations, let me know. Thanks!

You should eat...well....somewhere else. I personally don't know of anyplace in Mcminnville worth eating, but then I don't spend much time there. Cici's there was good...but it went out of business. I heard they had a good ryans...but they're gone too. Which way are you headed? I could probably recommend some places in Manchester, or woodbury, or murfreesboro if you were heading through any of them.

I would hit Chicken Chef...I love that place. It's nothing fancy, but the food is good. The only other place I would go is Stewarts Pharmacy (they have an old fashioned soda fountain/restaurant in the back left corner) or the Mexican restaurant in the same strip center.

Other than those I would keep driving to Woodbury and eat at Joe's Place.

We will be heading to Fall Creek Falls. We plan on being in Nashville at lunchtime, and the wife thought McMinnville would be the place to eat dinner. I guess the question should be "Where to eat dinner around Fall Creek Falls?"

The Fog Light is a nice fancy resturant in Rock Island just outside of McMinnville

The Fog Light is good, but it's not on the way to Fall Creek Falls.

I'm assuming that you are taking HWY 8 across the mountain to the park. After McMinnville there is NOTHING...but a couple convenience stores and Skyline Coal Mine.

Have you checked the park restaurant's menu? That's where I would eat.

We'll probably eat at the park restaurant at some point. We will be driving into McMinnville when we arrive (coming from Cookeville) and back through when we leave (heading toward Manchester). My wife really wants to check out several of the plant nurseries around there. That's why we figure we'll be eating at least a couple of meals there. I've read some decent reviews about Chicken Chef. I hadn't heard about Stewart Pharmacy, so we'll add that to the list. I looked into the Foglight, and it seems more like what we were hoping for. Woodbury sounds nice too. They just may be too far out by the time we finish running around to the different stops she has in mind. She's read about a place called Prater's. Is that any good?

McMinnville doesn't sound too promising. I don't think we can avoid eating at least one meal there, but we may try to wait to eat in Manchester when we leave. Any thoughts on places there would help too.

Thanks!

Are you referring to Prater's BBQ in McMinnville? If so, it was ok last time I was there. Not really much of a restaurant per se at that time but maybe they have expanded.

Wife and I ate there, total waste of money. I would have enjoyed it more if we made our own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches then what they had.

So Chicken Chef is still around would not have guess that. Do they still have the chicken nuggets? Those were the best. I work there when I was in high school early part of the 70's.

Gondola's restaurant in the mall is good. I especially like the baked sphagetti and the Chicken Fetticini.

I do enjoy Chicken Chef, but it is not anything special. Of the two, I believe your wife would prefer Gondola's.

Enjoy your stop in my little town.

The Oh charleys (down across from walmart) in manchester is pretty good. I've heard good things about 3 amigos mexican (up on 53) too, but never tried it. Theres a pretty good cracker barrel (also just off 53, across from kangaroo) there, and right in the middle of town (on 41) is a small diner, and a mexican restaurant side by side. Can't remember the name of either, but they are both not bad. Theres a coconut bay cafe (up by cracker barrel and 3 amigos) there too that I hear is good, although I haven't tried it.

Yep still there...at least a month or so ago. I don't know about the nuggets. I always ordered the fried chicken but I really came for the fries. They are awesome. I grew up eating there with my grandparents.
