New CC Bodyguard 2.0

I like pocket holsters. DeSantis Nemesis. One can alter the mouth of them, but I don't know if they will fit a Bodyguard. They may even make one for the Bodyguard. I carry a 7 shot 2" revolver, which is a K frame size, in a D Nemesis, that I had to open the throat to accept the larger cylinder. My wife sowed it back on her machine. These holsters are 29.00 + and cover the trigger and stay in the pocket when drawing the firearm.  They last about 8 months to 1 year for daily carry IMO.

I have been interested in the Bodyguard but want to wait a while to see if they have any bugs in them. Time will tell on that. If they turn out to be reliable, I will probably purchase one for myself. I really am not fond of 380 but it seems to be a little light but minimally effective. The round count in in the right direction for me. It would be much, much, much better than noting IMO.

I read Carl Chinn's book about the church shooting that he was in charge of security for. The church was in Colorado, and he was forced into a situation of facing down that shooter who was armed with a fully loaded AR 15 and 2 9 MM pistols. Carl had a small 32 tip up brl 7 shot micro pistol. He said while standing there waiting to face the shooter, that was now in sight  and coming down the hall toward him, he thought to himself, how stupid he was for being in that position and all he had was a small 32 caliber "Minni" pistol. I don't never want to be in that situation.

My thoughts and purpose for the Bodyguard is for a weak side backup pocket pistol to my 357 Mag revolver when traveling across the U S in our RV. I know in many situations probably one will never need a backup pistol; however, it would still be a comfort to have a New York reload handy on my person. My feeling while traveling is my wife, and I are most vulnerable when stopping for fuel in unknown circumstances.  We are forced to stop about ever 200 to 250 miles (truck averages 12 MPG) for fuel and relief. Going coast to coast, guys that is a lot of stops and many vulnerable situations. I would still like to make one more trip across the US before packing long travels in. My wife wants to explore San Francisco. I feel strongly the Bodyguard may be the one to have. I have a S W 642 Snubby now I use but it is a little limited on round count and a tad bit bulky. The slab side would be more comfortable IMO.

California will not allow me to carry anything, but I am almost certain I can have it in my RV(roller home).

DAdams, keep us updated on your new pistol and "enjoy it". I have really noticed the Bodyguard, like it, but pray I am never forced into a situation to need to use anything, again. I do believe one needs to be prepared, anyways.

I recently picked up a BG 2.0 and I find it to rub me raw. I carried it a couple weeks ago and I'm still healing from where it tore into me. It may be a wise idea to file down and grip tape the bottom area of the grip. Overall I think it's a decent little thing, but comparing it to my Canik MC9 the difference is between the two is almost negligible. It is a little thinner and smaller but those irons are hard to get a read on. Might end up being a safe queen.

Was it from the texture of the grip or the shape of the bottom of the mag??

The grip. the backstrap is hollowed out and incredibly sharp. The grip texturing is fine, but there is a thin line at the bottom which is raised and sharp also. It is circled in this image here. image.png.77487e1b513c0a3ec8d147d62fd64bd9.png

Defunct Ammo, how do you like the shoot ability and overall handling of the Bodyguard? Seriously considering purchasing one. My choice will be between the Bodyguard or the equivalent Ruger 380.

I do have some other handguns that fit the higher capacity larger caliber category in both 9mm and .45. Hence those bases are covered. Might even add a 10mm one of these days. I don't know that I would have purchased the 2.0 without first trying one. The range I frequent has lots of items for rent. I also tried the Sig 365XL. The BG 2.0 fit me well, I shot it well and it was accurate for something for up close and personal use. Not real impressed with the sights but if I get serious with it I'd go the laser route anyway. Capacity and weight wise loaded it's hard to beat. I don't know if it will end up in the carry rotation yet as It has to prove itself. I'm certainly not put off with the .380 ACP performance. It might be 100 fps short, but as far as penetration and expansion diameter it seems adequate. My winter carry (TN) and favorite is a M&P 340 (5 rounds +P) and summer (hot climates) Seecamp .380.

A few years ago Massad Ayoob started talking about 5-6 rounds not being enough in a shootout. I don't disagree, and hard to argue with the logic. Got me thinking about what was still carryable (don't leave home etc) with a higher capacity. One of my early carries was the Kahr PM 9 but even it is round limited by higher capacity standards. Until I get through breaking in the BG 2.0 it's still something else.

My Wife likes Her Byrna Launcher. Seems right for Seattle, Portland, Madison and other anti-Oligarchy States. And in the motorhome.

Oh and I forgot to add the BERSA CC in 380.

Sort of liking this VNSH holster these days.

It shoots like a champ. The rear sight is awful wide so making a shot at 15+ yards is much more challenging than I thought it'd be. <10 yards it is a boss. I've really got to train with it more just like with my Canik MC9. I can do some relatively quick splits at 15 yards with that and I can do 25 yard shots pretty nicely too.  If I can get the BG 2.0 in that ballpark I would be very happy with that.

As am I. I wasn't really expecting it to be an issue until I shot my first box of 50 through it. Mine likes to shoot left of center so I have to aim a bit right to shoot straight.

One of the reasons why I opted out of getting a CZ P-10M. 7+1 capacity in the age of double stack micros turned me away for sure. Otherwise I would've stuck with the CZ platform as a whole.

I've got one, and like it a lot. I struggled with the super-wide rear sight, though; I was swimming in it.

I figured out that the rear sight from the original BG would fit the dovetail, and would retain the backplate correctly. This has a 'normal' size rear notch, and I find it much easier to shoot.

I'd note that, using an MGW professional sight pusher, it was *very* difficult to remove the original rear sight. Toughest I've ever done.

Note that the sight is off-center to zero the gun; that's a pretty well-noted issue with this gun.

I've got no opinion on the Bodyguard, but I can vouch for the Ruger Security .380.  It's my wife's pistol and looks as mean as a 9mm without the recoil.  Easy to rack, ample capacity and good sights.

Went to Acadamy Sports, in Smyrna, and handled a Bodyguard 2.0. I was not drawn to it immediately. To me, It was just a little small. Will go and handle it again in the future. Sometimes I need to taste it again before I develop a desire for one.  I have a Ruger Max 9, and it may just need to fill my needs at this time. With the flush mag it would work, and it is a 9 MM.

Ammo was quite a bit higher than where I have been ordering my ammo from. They did not have much of a selection for Self Defense ammo. I was in the market for 124 gr + P and they had none. I also wanted some Speer Gold Dot 38 spl 125 gr + P Short Brl for my EDC carry and they did not have that either.

Did purchase me a new Leupold 42 MM binocular. Bird watching you know!

Watched the video. Interesting. Will reconsider the Bodyguard and take another look. He shot the pistol well and he has big hands.
