Bill Introduced to Take Guns, Ammo from IRS

I recall a few (like between 10+ and the literal few) years ago the IRS was buying tremendous amounts of ammunition.  Never understood it then and still don’t now.

Do we really need armed tax collectors running around and is that even a thing anymore?  They still chasing bootleggers up in the hollers?

Tax collection is done through the paper-pushing legal system these days.  If they need armed law enforcement, they can just borrow some from any of the other armed bureaucratic agencies.

IRS does have a LE section. I can't remember exactly what they're called, but they're IRS cops. These are the guys who actually go out and arrest tax cheats. Some of them don't come along quietly, thus these agents are armed. However, they are only a very small fraction of IRS employees. I know a guy who retired from this job.

Yes, I remember when IRS was suddenly buying hundreds of guns and many thousands of rounds of ammo. They don't need them and they should be taken away.

Run out of money for ammo in one agency, just have a different agency pay for it.

I don't recall them ever getting Al Sharpton
