Trade G19 for Echelon?

Recommended Posts

In a pickle. I have a G19 that I enjoy but the ergonomics bug me on all Glocks. I keep going back because aftermarket support is amazing, but I saw Springfield is doing their Gear Up pack for $639 which includes 5 mags and an optic.

The Echelon feels so good in the hand. Good trigger, great optics mounting system. I could likely sell my Glock package with the safariland and cover the price. But I’m hesitant for some reason and I’m just not sure why.

I have not tried Echelon but have tried XD line and about everything else.  I have many but Glocks are just hard to beat overall.  It is usually love or hate for most.  Try as many as you can is my motto.

I seem to always end up back at Glock for the same reasons I always end up driving Toyotas I guess. But Springfield seems to have pretty good aftermarket support and reliability now.

I had an Echelon for a while.  Sold it primarily because I just needed to stop fragmenting my EDC kit with a bunch of different options.  Anyway... really good gun!  Ergonomics were excellent, accuracy was excellent.  The optics mounting system is very well thought-out.

Now that the Echelon comes in a 15rd Glock-19-sized "Echelon Compact" package, I really don't see how you could go wrong with it.

Research magazines.  Early Echelons were having magazines come apart unexpectedly.

think that it was the extended mags only, but yes - definitely worth researching first.

Find someone who owns one or rent one and shoot it

it is amazing the little niggling things that show up in even the first 100 rounds. Such as grip, sights, trigger feel, spots which rub in you hands. Even just the general feel when firing
