Alaskan Tundra Caribou & Yugo M59/66 SKS

I lived in Alaska for fourteen years and thought I could spend the rest of my life there, but my wife had other plans.

In 2005, I was teaching school in a remote Native Alaskan village called Eek (means "two eyes in Yupik."

In early January 2005, I took this three-year-old male caribou with one shot from about 100 yards with my Yugo M59/66 SKA with open sights. He was at a slow trot.  The round hit him in the neck, and he dropped instantly and broke his antlers off,

I ate a lot of caribou over the next five months.
