folks, take a look at this bill, tell me that its' not what I think it is?

WashingtonWatch.com - H.R. 2159, The Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009

as you know, according to the current administration, those who hold any political views that don't toe the Democratic line are considered extremists and subject to scrutiny and can be detained by law enforcement.

Introduced by a Republican no less...:D

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has sponsored H.R. 2159, the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009, which permits the attorney general to deny transfer of a firearm to any "known or suspected dangerous terrorist." The bill requires only that the potential firearm transferee is "appropriately suspected" of preparing for a terrorist act and that the attorney general "has a reasonable belief" that the gun might be used in connection with terrorism.

It seems to have escaped you that the bill was introduced by a Republican . This is in fact completely in line with the Patriot Acts and the laws they spawned to totally remove rights from anybody the Government suspected of terrorism. No ground rules were laid as to what a terrorist is or was. I am not a Democrat or Republican, and don't feel I have to belong to either party to be a citizen. When you surrender your rights to security, you lay open the ability of the government to disarm you as well as any suspected terrorists ( maybe people going to the wrong church or the wrong ancestory?)

Defend the Constitutional rights of everyone and let the chips fall where they may or surrender to big brother.

Doesn't it go without saying that anyone suspected of being a terrorist should be denied any sort of weaponry? I guess the key is to define what a "terrorist" is.

We need to remember that terrorism is hardly going to go away no matter what our government does. Terrorist have demonstrated their ability to adapt and utililize basic tools to carry out their deadly acts. Didn't the 911 hijackers use box cutters and a well executed plan? Our fight against terrorism and terrorists will last as long as our world does I am afraid.

The biggest mistake that our leaders have made and continue to make is thinking that disarming us somehow makes us safer.

Who then will protect us from our government?

How about when anyone "attempting to obtain a firearm" is suspected of being a terrorist?
