Any open fields to shoot at?

Does anyone know of any open fields around the Nashville area to practice shooting at? Seems unnecessary to have to pay to go to a range just to get a few rounds off.

Your best bet would be finding another shooter with some land, or maybe someone who has a hunting tract that wouldn't mind you shooting during the off season.

I've never had much need to practice shooting at a field. They tend to lie there and not really try to get away from you. Pretty easy targets.

Since I don't know of one, I'd suggest joining Owl Hollow. It's only $40/year, and a great place to shoot.

No, it's not free, but it's cheap and well worth it, IMHO.

I checked Owl Hollow, and according to the membership application, there's no range this year as the landowner has cancelled the lease. So the $20 membership is going for finding a new range location. Is this not the current info?

The gun club is no longer affiliated with the range. The land owner, Charlie, has the range open for business. He is a great guy. The yearly membership for the range is $40. And like I said before, well worth it, IMHO.

Charlie is often hanging around the range. If he's not there, just walk up the little path at the end of the range. His house is on the other side of the trees. There may be a phone number, but I don't know it.

awhile back someone had listed natchez state park as a possible open firing range, could anyone shed any light on this? I am off this week and would like to shoot a few rounds, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)
