Can i buy a rifle at 18

Summary:

Private sale -  Long guns at any age. Handguns at 18.
Dealer sale - Long guns at 18, handguns at 21

Dang, I went and read that on their website. No age limit on long gun private sales. So, in theory a 10 year old could buy an AR-15. I'm not one for gun laws, but that seems like something that should be regulated.

I always thought the intent was for things like giving a kid a .22 on their 12th birthday or something like that, but yes, in a private sale an 8-year old can buy a .50 BMG if they can find someone who will sell or give it to them.

Bought REM 742 at 14(many years ago) but my Dad was with me.  If I had done so without his permission the ATF would have been the least of my worries. 
I am thankful ever day for the great parents I had.
