Does anyone know Bredesen's stance on the bill? I've heard that he is for it and then I've heard that he hasn't said whether or not he would veto it. Correct me if I am wrong, I've had someone tell me that he could veto it 3 times and then it would die? We've come so far now and I keep hearing that it could be on the Gov's desk by Monday night but I am just wondering if he is legit on signing it or at the least letting it sit.

He can sign it, it will pass

He can not sign it, it will pas

He can veto it, then it goes to the full legislation to vote, there are enough votes to override, it will pass.

I don't think he can re-veto. That's the good thing about a democracy. If he vetoes and the legislature overrides it, it still becomes law.

well, I sent his office an e-mail regarding the subject, and all I got was a form letter back, so I believe that he's pretty much going to remain quiet until the issue comes up

There is no telling really. His term limit won't allow him to run for Gov. again. If he wants to move on to the National scene he will veto for the cache it will give him with the other Dems. If he doesn't give a shiznit he might just sign it. My money is on the veto attempt.

But then again, if he has an eye for the Whitehouse Post-Obama he might sign it hoping for TN's support in the future national election.

It could go either way really.

That is why he didn't get that health dept job in DC.

He probably got disqualified with that question on the questionnaire, "do you own a gun?".

Governor Bredesen was born in New Jersey.

My guess is that he will allow it to become law without his signature...that path represents the smallest expenditure of political capital for him. OMO, YMMV.
