FOR THE 1911 FAN IN US ALL

Recommended Posts

A couple of days ago I bought a new Taurus PT1911AR and added a few upgrades to it,well today I finally got to the range to try the gun out and all I have to say is,happy-happy-happy,this thing shoots like no tomorrow, not a FTF,FTE,or mishap of any sort.Upon my newly purchased Taurus pistols,of which there are 2,both of these just work, plain and simple,I have a picture here of the gun with a few goodies installed.img0736.jpg

Awesome, good looking 1911. I love the flared extension, does it help with recoil?

The Taurus 1911 is one (if not the best) 1911 you can get for your money. It comes with so many "upgrades" from the box, it's one of those guns that shoots great from the get go w/o much modification. I imagine the stuff you've done to it makes is shoot like a dream...

Yes sir It does shoot, the comp is a Wilson Combat drop in,all you have to do is replace the 1 piece guide rod with a 2 piece, also Wilson Combat,it does seem to help with muzzle flip but then I was shooting a Ultra 3 inch so I cant really compare, also added a Wilson Bullet proof slide stop, yea, tea I know its starting to sound like a Wilson ad.Grips are by Raasco out of CA.:)

awesome and congrats. think i'll be making an upgraded taurus 1911 soon also (because it's an affordable project with a head start AND at least partly because a lot of 1911 guys grimace at the mere sound of "taurus" and 1911 in the same sentence...:2cents:).

i've seen a friend of mine's PT1911 w/ wilson valueline hammer and seer installed (maybe $50) smoke some 1911's that cost 5 times as much...

...with the 1911 aftermarket and all the gunsmiths who know how to wrench on them, building and tuning an inexpensive one seems more fun than saving for an expensive one.

besides, imho, a $3000 gun is a used honda w/ a glock in the glove box!

The Honda quote is just funny,I will have to remember this one the next time a guy tells me its blasphemy to put Kimber and Taurus in the same sentence.

Congratulations on your purchase! I also bought the same gun just over a week ago, unmodified as of yet, but have never been more happy with a gun purchase in my life in terms of fun to shoot, accurate, reliable and overall value for the $$. I love Taurus products and like a few of you consider it the anti-gunsnob brand.

And CK1, the Honda line is priceless.

I submit the number of gunsmiths who know how to work on them is a much smaller subset of those who CLAIM to be able to work on them.

How true,I have read of some pretty botched smithing performed by people that say they know what they are doing.
