New Springfield Armory Echelon Pistol

Does anyone have any experience, or firsthand knowledge, with the Sp Ar pistol? it has been out for over 2 years now and Sp Ar should have the bugs worked out of them by now. I don't like purchasing new model guns until they have been on the market for a couple years because of the bugs thing.

I am thinking of purchasing the larger full size 5" barrel 9 MM pistol for a house gun. I noticed they have come out with a smaller pistol with a 4" brl they are calling a compact model. I already have a couple SW MP 9 MM C 2.0 15 shot that have the 4" brl and a 9MM EZ SW 9 MM 10 + 1, so no real pressing need just would like a new full size fantastic plastic pistol. I will say I have a couple Glocks, a 19 9 MM and a 23 in 40 cal, but just am not a Glock fan.聽 聽

Give me some pointers if you are in the know concerning the Echelon. My understanding is that these pistols are in the 650.00 MSRP range. Have not priced one locally yet.聽

I just picked up my new Echelon 4.0c on Valentines day this year.聽 It's got a pretty decent trigger from the factory...4 lb 10 oz on my Lyman digital.聽 I have been reading a bit about a different trigger though as the take up is right at 6mm.聽 I ended up buying a Tyrant trigger and I installed that a couple of weeks ago.聽 Take up is now right at 1mm.聽 Reset might be just a touch shorter, but nothing significant for an already good reset distance.聽 I've also got the Powder River Echelon spring kit ordered and will/should be here day after tomorrow (Thursday).聽 I'll likely put that in this coming weekend and I'm looking to see somewhere around a 1 lb less pull when that goes in.聽 I've had it to the range a few times and zero issues with the gun.聽 I need to go back again soon though as I changed dot on it and it's now wearing a Holosun 507K GR X2 that needs to be sighted in.

I was torn between the full size 5" barrel and the 4" barrel that I ended up getting, so who knows, I might end up getting one of 5" models also....I like it that much.聽 If you purchase new and now, SA has the 2025 Gear up promotion going which gets you a small size range bag, 3 extra magazines and your choice of a couple of different Red Dots....either the Crimson trace 1500 or the HEX Wasp.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like you are doing a makeover on the pistol. I am sure it fits you better.

I think my itch for a new pistol purchase just flew out the window. My wife wants a different SUV and we are off to look at it this afternoon. Taken me a lifetime to buy my honey an Escalade. She is excited.

Edited to add; My fun money has evaporated. We purchased the SUV (Pearl White Caddy). It is a 2018 Escalade, short one. Our daughter has a 2018 long one. That is what got me in trouble, we drove hers to Branson last fall and my wife loved it. Oh well, it's just money! She is ecstatic! How many times can you do that for your honey?聽 The new Echelon must wait for now.聽

This may not interest you anymore, but I'll put it out there for anyone else that might be considering the Echelon.聽 My favorite delivery service (USPS....馃が) missed the three day shipping window, as the spring kit was supposed to be here Thursday.聽 It finally arrived Sat. and I immediately started the install of the Powder River Spring kit in the Echelon.聽 The new kit no longer contains the trigger return spring, which was causing issues, so you just keep the OEM spring in it for that.聽 You get a Sear Spring, a Safety Sear Spring, a Striker Spring, and a Striker Safety Spring.

I didn't need to remove the trigger for the spring install on the COG, and all the parts went together as they should.聽 After getting done with the install, and checking all the safeties and confirming the gun operates just as it is supposed to, I did a half dozen trigger pulls on it.聽 I went from 4 lbs 10/11 ounces down to 3 lbs and 6 ounces.聽 So the bottom line is that you definitely can use the Tyrant trigger and reduced the take up from OEM (6mm) down to 1mm......and the PRP spring kit will net you almost a pound and a half off the trigger pull.聽 I'm 100% happy with it now.
