Aero Precision - BEWARE

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Buying directly from Aero Precision nowadays is apparently a catastrophe.  I ordered a receiver set on January 3 and never even received a confirmation email.  Thank goodness I always screenshot my order number after hitting "submit."  Aero billed my card on January 5.  No worries, I figured, they got blown out over the holidays.  Fast forward to day 44 and they still won't answer the phone, reply to messages (I can't find an email address), and their chat just kicks you off after 30 minutes.  Five minutes of internet research reveals that there are a lot of other folks with the same story.  Their customer service is awful.  Meanwhile, they keep emailing me about receiver sets and other parts ready to ship.  Yeah right.  I like Aero receivers and hand guards and I might buy them from a retailer if I can temporarily get the taste out of my mouth, but I will never buy directly from Aero again, no matter how good their prices are.

I don't do much social media, but I am confident they are getting hammered on all the socials by others.

I thought Aero was one of the big names in the AR game for quite a while but it looks like there’s been a lot of grumbling for the past few months on the interwebs about them.  Did they just fall apart or something?

They supply receivers and barrels for big name AR manufacturers - they are huge.  I hope their new business model is not "we have plenty of business- F em."

I have heard that the hard-to-find-good-help problem is still a big deal in Washington, and it's probably exacerbated for a company making evil black rifles in a deep blue state.  Whatever the case, they need to stop doing "limited run builder sets in desert camo for January only" specials and send the marketing guys to help in the CNC room or the shipping department.

Make a claim with your credit card company.

Sounds like a hassle but I did.  CC company said it will take two billing cycles 🙄.  Some guys online are seeing their stuff suddenly get shipped after starting a dispute.  It it works, great, but now I just want my money back so I can go a different route with my build without having to wonder if I'll end up getting it or not.  I don't believe my parts were ever in stock - nobody' shipping department is backed up 1.5 months.

I 1 million percent agree!  I love their products but by zero means...DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM DIRECT!!!  He speaks the truth, no customer feedback at all!  Terrible!  Buy from a retailer and you'll have zero problems.

You’ll pay more and you can get any color you want as long as it’s black, but the retailer will actually ship your stuff.

That’s really sad to hear. They use to be great, and easy to work with, including non routine questions.

I stopped buying direct about 3 years ago when sales tax and shipping charges hit as prices were already higher in general.

But today,  we are also getting back into a glut phase with AR prices down significantly. The margin squeeze is likely having them pull back and not replacing staff lost to post pandemic effect / remote. And possibly reducing staff further on anything non-production.

The industry trend to deprioritize customer service is real unfortunately. Seeing phone support go to email only at first. The last few left seem to be running small staff.

I was talking to the CS at Colt the other day…and he confirmed he was the only one. Reminds me of years ago before they went belly up and CZ bought / saved them. The product has improved, but keeping cost down on that end.

Anyone currently waiting with Sig on one of their promised free gun rebates especially knows what zero support feels like.

Meanwhile, their website shows a huge Presidents’ Day sale 🙄

I guess you can offer some pretty good deals if you never plan on shipping out the product..........😉

Their Anodized parts are so awesome though.  I put my wife an AR together when they had the purple and it's tough.  Not sure how many rounds we've shot through it but it doesn't have a scratch so far.  My FDE Cerakote hand guard looks like I dropped it out of the truck at 65 mph.  Just order from a retailer and you'll be fine.  Prices on their site are higher most of the time anyways.

My go to for aero. Small shop, built in house, no tax and reasonable fast shipping.

I ordered a stripped upper from them last week.  The kinda janky website combined with the almost-too-good-to-be-true price had me skeptical, but they do list a street address and there was lots of good online feedback about them.  They shipped my upper fast and I’ll do business with them again.

Check around holidays and there are some steals on stripped complete uppers.
