7mm Rem Mag options

So I may have chosen the wrong platform originally. I posted over in the "long gun" section but haven't gotten much help. I have a 7mm Remington Magnum that I would like to repurpose to a flatter, more consistent 1000 yard rifle. Does anyone here know what calibers I can change that rifle to? I was thinking about 6.5/300 Weatherby Magnum but have never dealt with it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

For a pretty good time the 300 win mag and the 300/338 wildcats were used as reliable military 1000 YD target guns.  They are built in the same action as the 7 mm mag as I remember. As I remember, the 7 mag, 300 win mag, and the 338 mag are long actions.  The weatherbys may be extra long actions.

All ya got ta do is replace the barrel in your 7 mag.  Any of the old line target barrel makers can do em..

The 300 win mag wuz used as a sniper gun as well.

  I've got a single shot Rem 40X in the back of my gun safe that is as accurate a rifle as I've ever shot.
