Snowpocalypse 2025

It's up to the ankles in Maryville and the temp's colder than a mother-in-law's kiss in a welfare office.

Jefferson County here. About an inch on the ground, yard is mostly white, roads are ok but I can see some freezing. All is good so far.

I went out and measured. Got 5.5" here.

But this is curious. I found footprints in the snow leading up my driveway to my carport/front porch area. Look like adult sized work boots. Nothing was left on the porch, nothing seems to be disturbed, nothing missing. Vehicles are fine. I wonder what that was all about?

I remember some pretty heated feuds with neighbor kids when I was younger over a kid having the unmitigated gall to track up the snow in another kid's yard before that kid was allowed to go out an play. If I scraped the snow off someone's dad's car before they came out to play, I expected to have to fight them later.

I wasted a PTO day.  The radar showed it snowing here at 7am, I didn't see the first flurry until 11am. There's a couple inches here in murvul now and its still coming down, but its definitely not as much as I'd hoped for. My boys got out and played in it for a little while but there wasn't enough to sled on.

Started about 6 here about Juliet, and now at 4, we got 4 inches. It's still coming down. Place Looks like a winter wonderland.

I just came in after an hour of riding my wife's quad around in the snow. What a hoot! I'm probably too old for acting like a hooligan (68! How did that happen so quickly?) but I did it anyway. That thing is WAY more fun in 2WD than in 4WD in the snow. And this time of year it's pretty easy to pick a path betweeen the trees, although I did come pretty close to looping it when I found a hole that I couldn't see through the snow. I may have to do that again tomorrow, assuming I can still walk.

Temps have been in the mid to upper 30s today and the sun is shining. Roads, driveways and sidewalks are completely clear. Still pretty good coverage on yards and roofs. I thinking that by Monday, Tuesday latest, it'll all be gone. 👍

Our high today was 32, but I noticed that the roads are wet, not frozen, beneath the snow. I shovelled a walkway and within an hour it was completely clear. Too bad the county doesn't plow the roads out here, they'd be fine by now. I hope that Barlett weather reaches us tomorrow.

Be ready for some serious cold to start early next week. They are throwing around that "Polar Vortex" term a bunch lately in the 10 day forecast. Highs in the low 20's and single digit lows Monday and Tuesday.

We got 3.5 inches in the sheltered area near the house and 5.5 at the deepest spot. It was a heavy fairly wet snow in my area.
I got out an cleared the driveway late Friday afternoon as it was tapering off and my snow blower made quick work of it. What little fell after I cleared the drive was gone by the time the sun hit it Saturday morning.

They did a good job in my area since they had such a solid forecast. They pretreated the road Thursday evening then plowed twice on Friday. The steep hills on our road that are normally a real problem were a non issue this time. Could have gotten out Friday if I had needed to. We did go out Saturday and the roads were perfectly fine. Even most of the area parking lots seemed pretty clear (so I was not able to attempt any AWD donuts).

I wonder how many folks in TN own a snow blower. I've never seen one in real life.
