SHOT Show 2025: Glock and Aimpoint COA Optic

In case you haven't already seen it, Glock and Aimpoint have collaborated to deliver a new variant of several Glock models this year, each featuring a slide cut with a new Aimpoint optics mounting footprint designed to work with Aimpoint's new COA pistol optic.

Before you totally dismiss it as the answer to a problem that no one was asking, it really is worth looking at.  Not something I'd rush to replace ANY of my existing Glocks with, but (a.) it designed as a package primarily meant for organizations looking to move to optics-equipped handguns, and (b.) it might be worth considering later in the year (or next) if you are in the market for a new gun and optic.

I saw this early. Admittedly I didn't dig super deep, but I didn't see any info on whether these were going to be available NOT in a new gun package. Also, I'm very likely the reason this was recently announced because I just bought a new MOS Glock...figures 🙂

I’m admittedly late to pistol optics but at least 2 companies make a direct mount sight for the Glock MOS system. I guess collaborations are the big thing now

Currently i would stay with MOS. Plenty of options...

I don't think you really read the material or stopped to understand why this mount is likely very superior to the MOS system. I am personally aware of 10-12 individuals who have had MOS plates and screws fail, or who inadvertently used the wrong length screw and cause the MOS plates to bend (and fail).

It looks like it locks in pretty good. The only question is if you need a bread box on the top of your gun, but that's an emitter debate.

I haven't seen one in person obviously, but it looks like a very well thought out mounting process.

It should be remarkably durable.

One compliant I see/read is "Oh No! Not another mounting system!" LOL I get it. But we truly are still in the development stage of RDS on handguns. And this, for the reasons @TGO David, is, imho, a big step in the right direction of insuring durability.

I only have 2 RDS EDC handguns. A G17 with a direct milled RMR and a G19 with a direct milled Holosun 509t. (ATEI) I really appreciate the cross cut mounting done for my 509t. It's rock solid.

I do have a 407 Holosun on my Taurus .22 and a 507 on my Shockwave. But that isn't a good comparison to the beating taken by a RDS on a SD handgun slide.

And honestly the size of the enclosed emitter of the 509 is not a "mailbox" sized attachment and carries and conceals quite well in my Dale Fricke Archangel AIWB holster. But it has a large enough window that it's remarkably easy to see.

This COA looks to be smaller than the ACRO but with what appears to be a similar sized window.

The very clever cut mounting looks like it will sink the sight fairly low allowing use of the proprietary Glock sights. And it looks to be strong. We'll see.

I have no desire for one at this point in my life for one. But I'm interested in following this evolution.

I think it's a pretty unique and clever collaboration. Just my opinion.

One thing I am not clear about is the auto stepdown feature of the COA sight.

I like to leave my sights on, at a high enough level that they can be readily seen even in bright sunlight. We frequently find ourselves going from dim to bright lighting as we transition from indoors to outdoors and I don't want to hope the sight auto adjusts appropriately.

Maybe I don't know what I don't know...

This is kinda neat, although I scratch my head at doing something with Aimpoint instead of making a dedicated RMR-ready slide.  I imagine there are a lot more people interested in direct mounting RMRs, SROs, and various Holosuns.

The included MOS plates are junk, but C&H Precision made MOS a good system.  But yeah, I would prefer direct mount.
