On the absence of any actual story, I'm not going to jump to any conclusions based simply on a photograph.

I hear you, but just going by the photo and caption it says they are military police and they look to be armed.

Last I checked, Churchill Downs wasn't federal property.

I was a member of the 438th Military Police Co. in Murray, KY for 3 and 1/2 years and worked the Derby two years and we were in uniform and carried a loaded 9mm handgun. However, when I was there, we wore Class B dress uniforms.

Anyway, we were activated on orders from the Gov. of Kentucky and NOT the US Army. It would be illegal for the US Army to do that work.

It is a National Guard unit.
