Removing caulk

I am getting ready to replace a pedestal sink and discovered the top was mounted to wall, not with bolts, but white caulk.

An unlimited budget amount of caulk.

Aside from a razor knife or ripping it away from the drywall, any ingenious removal methods out there?

I think I’d try a scraper blade on a reciprocating tool.  Then a solvent like above to remove the residue that’s left.

Are you sure it’s caulk and not construction adhesive?

This was my first thought as well. I can see a Loctite brand adhesive or similar holding up a sink but most caulk does well to hold itself to a surface much less a fixture to the wall.

Yep.

If it is construction adhesive, it'd be fastest to just cut that drywall out and replace it. Sanding it down would be tedious.
