New Ruger RXM, Glock gen 3 clone

I saw this came out a couple of days ago and has got my interest, especially at $350 online (plus shipping and transfer).  For this price, it seems like a great value, optic ready, front night sight, interchangeable grip module.  Has any one picked one up?

No but it does seem interesting.  Glock 19 has become the new 1911, everyone makes one.

I did watch a YouTube video wherein the reviewer said he had some trigger bite when shooting.

Looks like Glock's ugly half-sister.    But Ruger is a brand I've trusted for years.  May your research be fruitful and revealing.

I haven't fired one but did get to handle, dry fire, and take the slide off of one and "look under the hood"  yesterday. The range was busy, so just a quick look.

It's very "Gen 3 Glock" like. 

The grip feels good to me, but I long ago shortened and modified my well worn G19 and this Ruger is very similar.

The trigger is good for a Glock-like trigger, Smooth and no glitch, moderately short reset.

ETA. I shoot factory Glock triggers fwiw.

A lot of the parts looks interchangeable with Glock.

I definitely like the sights. All metal instead of the Glock placeholders, good sized and clear to see with my aging eyes. Definitely like these sights.

The slide has plenty of holes to accommodate a RDS. From what I've seen online with various RDS mounted there is a need for a quality adapter as the slide does not support  a RDS fore and aft.

(My slides are milled so I'm biased).

Hopefully one will go into the rental rotation soon and I'll get to shoot one.

It has potential. But I've been disappointed before  LOL

Time will tell.

Everyone is trying the modular mechanics-

Trigger assembly -frame -and slide assembly-

Half is Magpul-Half is Ruger-

Kinda like Sig and the P320 and P365-

I don’t get the point of the removable trigger module.  Everybody thought they were the future when Sig put it in the 320, but they seem kinda gimmicky to me.

The feature of a removeable trigger module I like.  Being able to swap out the grip for a different size or brand without having to go through an FLL is very convenient.

I have a lot of Glock mags so I’ll get one in a year or so in case it has any kinks that need to be worked out.

Glad to see more things going the route of modular with serialized FCU. Makes so much sense in a Glock with all their frame and slide combo variations. 
I bet Glock isn’t thrilled to see this! Reputable company making a quality piece at a substantial savings which is superior to the prior low end faux glock option.  First real threat to Glock's sales.

For the same price if not cheaper , I'd rather get the real Glock 19 Generation 3 but buy it used or even a police turn-in. That way you know it will work. You wont have to worry about pins walking out on you under fire and other things since this is an all new pistol. I have read that when the magazine is in the pistol , that the magazine is very loose and rattles a bit. I understand the removable fire control unit idea , but it just doesn't appeal to me.

I love all my Rugers. I hope this one does well too. However 20 plus years ago a guy told me “There is Glock and there is everyone that wants to be Glock “   I haven’t found anything that beats them functionally.  AK of the pistol world.

Ruger used to have an "AK" of the pistol world. It was called the  Ruger P-Series. They didn't copy or clone them. They were a Ruger original and to this day they are still legends.

I agree. They were/are very good pistols.  I don’t currently own any but have had several over the years with no issues.

I don’t think anyone will try to argue the reliability of a ‘genuine’ glock. Time will bear out this new offering’s place on that scale. It sure as hell won’t be near the polymer80 end of the scale.

The modularity seems to be a focus. Whether modularity is an appeal or not, the other aspect that is a significant selling point is the preference based ergonomics. That is what originally drove the clone wars. 

I have many Glocks, but I won’t ever pretend they have favorable ergos and acknowledge they have a specific training need due to the grip angle. I like that this allows for more standardized training around presentation across platforms. And yes, the modularity

I'm in the same boat about ergonomics. I don't dispute Glock's performance, I just despise the grip and grip angle.

One good thing about the RXM is for those who have a solder gun and like to stipple is that you ruin a $40 part and not the whole pistol.

100% !!!! That's the only reason I haven't tried it myself.
