He seemed to struggle with the gun after maybe the third shot.  The fact that he left live ammo makes me suspect he had an unplanned malfunction.  Planned malfunctions or unplanned, it seems like a lousy plan either way.

A lousy plan that worked. He came in undetected, he eliminated his target and then he got away. His subsequent actions suggest prep, planning and purpose. While he is no James Bond, John Wick or Frank Moses, his plan succeeded. As far as not getting apprehended later....who knows.

Since the live ammo found was marked with "deny," "defend" and "depose", there's some speculation now that the rounds were dropped on purpose to spread the message.

Was the live ammo marked or the empty cases?

I was talking about the actual shooting part and I think he was somewhat lucky, but if his plan included not getting caught, I would argue that the jury is still out.

On the other hand, maybe this was a professional hit.  The goofy gun, the words written on the ammo, and the shooter showing his face everywhere beforehand could be an attempt to make it look like a rookie vigilante with an axe to grind instead of something else (cue the Mission Impossible theme with Tom Cruise ripping off a mask…)

I'm not absolutely sure. I know the live ammo was marked, not sure about the empties. They're saying the words were written with a marker pen. Good chance it was wiped off the empty cases by being fired.

Hell, we're four pages deep into this and the only thing anybody knows for sure is that CEO dude is dead. Everything else is just rumor and speculation. 🙄

Words or marks written with a Sharpie, if allowed to dry, will absolutely stay intact during firing.  A lot of .38 Super shooters mark their brass with a Sharpie to know whose brass is whose.

I used to do that with 45ACP and 10mm casings for the purpose of reloading my own ammo.

The news outlets are claiming that a person of interest has been arrested after being spotted at a McDonald's restaurant in Pennsylvania.

The plot thickens!

===Copy and Paste===

A source with knowledge of the investigation into the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson told Fox News that a person fitting the suspect's description has been taken into custody at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pa.

The person has a similar gun to the one used in the shooting last Wednesday, the source added.

Police tell Fox News that a person at the McDonald's recognized the individual from the wanted posters of the suspect and then alerted law enforcement.

When police arrived, they spotted the person and found a weapon -- believed to be the one used in the murder -- in his pocket, along with a fake ID, according to police.

“The eyebrows match," another police source told Fox News regarding the appearance of the individual.

The man was sitting and working on a laptop in the Altoona McDonald’s when he was spotted, the source continued, revealing that the suspect in Thompson's murder was also spotted doing the same thing at a McDonald's location in New York City.

Hmmm. It’s almost like he wanted to be caught. That, or he isn’t as smart as he thinks he is.

you aren’t keeping a Station6 or VP9 in your pocket.

It’s being reported that what I said they were going to find, was exactly what they found on him. A self manufactured weapon. “A ghost gun”

Someone wanted him caught.  They maybe even paid him to be caught. 😉

I’ve been rolling through his Twitter feed and I gotta tell you, do not believe the reports that are describing him as an “anti-capitalist leftist“ because they are way off base. His vastly critical of corporate power, but to conflate being anti-corporate monopoly with being anti-capitalist is disingenuous at best.

I see no inherent conflict between being anti-government central planning of the economy and being anti-corporate Monopoly control of the economy. They’re both coercive authoritarian means of exploiting the wider population for the benefit of a relative few.

it appears that he suffered a really gnarly back injury, and I would expect went more than a few rounds with his insurance. This seems personal as well as political.

I imagine it’s more the former than the latter but then again I’m not going to browse his social media or read his “manifesto” if that becomes available.

It sounds crazy and unrealistic, but it also could be completely plausible if this was his entire plan.

Which is more likely:

a. Dude is upset with the health care system, wants to do something, wants to make a statement, wants to be a martyr, and maybe (likely) has some mental illness.

or

b.  The “government” or some other shadow organization killed the CEO, then somehow convinced an innocent dude who looks like the killer, to dress like him, get photographed, then sit in a. McDonald’s while carrying the murder weapon and other evidence.
