However, I can pretty much guarantee that the fervent prayer in every C suite in the industry is that this turns out to be about anything at all other than how UHC did business. like if it were to turn out to be a professional hint because of some sort of personal peccadillo, you would be able to hear the sighs of relief from NYC all the way in your house.

One article said the gun came in 9 mm or 45. I would have thought a 22 cal would he the choice of a real assassin in NYC definitely not a 45

My 9mm is about as quiet as a .22 semiauto and more reliable, but I've loaded it with what my buddies call "nerd" ammo. It's not as quiet as my bolt .22 though. It has 1k psi less muzzle pressure than standard subsonic. My single shot .45 acp is definitely louder, but only when compared to the 9mm and .22. I mean you could shoot a guy with the 45 outside your living room window with you in the living room and you wouldn't have a clue.

This.  And I'm not saying the murder was justified; I'm saying a lot of prospective jurors would feel ripped off by insurance companies.

It reminds me of the Bernie Goetz trial in NY years ago after he shot 4 or 5 would-be muggers.  If memory serves, he was acquitted by the jury on all charges.  What he said about the incident was something like, "Well, screw those guys - they... they were trying to rip me off!"

I work for a physician practice.  Patients come to our business office from time to time with questions and frustrations over their bills because our outsourced billing company has issues.

They're usually all friendly enough and most are just confused by a Byzantine system.  Some are sorta rude, I get it.  None have ever been threatening, but I always wonder if one will come with a weapon some day because a clerical error of some type just pushed them over the edge.

Nobody deserves to be shot, even the shady dealers of United Healthcare.  Arrested or tried in civil court... absolutely.  But this will accomplish nothing.  It's just gonna be more overhead paying for executive's security details.

Since you have to twist and pull back the bolt to cycle it, it is easy to capture your brass. It doesn’t fling it across the room.

In several different definitions I looked at, the person assassinated typically is of importance and the the reason being for  political or religious. 
 

One interesting this I read was “or in exchange for money”

so if Joe Blow is killed by his wife, he was murdered. If his wife pays someone to kill him, he was assassinated.

Webster says the importance of the victim is the difference between assassination and murder. Good to know that I don't have to ever be worried about being assassinated...one less thing to worry about.

IF, IF IF, they have all the evidence they report they have, this guy will be found out soon. Sure was a vendetta killing by what he scribed on the ammo cases. Makes no difference what you call it; this was premeditated murder on camera.

I’m seeing a lot of people suggest that healthcare CEOs should go into hiding or employ more private security and I could not possibly disagree more. You can't live the rest of your life in fear. I think it's imperative that they get back to work, in person at least 3 days a week at the headquarters address listed on their company's website.

3 days a week very harsh that barely leaves time for  High level meetings by that . I mean luncheons And Golf lol tough work but someone got to do it but with vest and plates now

Which leads to a question I have. It seems like the shooter did a lot of research and tried to hide his identity but still chose a very public setting. I don't understand why he didn't take this guy out at home. Seems like he would have had better odds of getting away with it. I firmly believe he'll be caught soon.

He hasn’t been caught thus far, and honestly, I’m not sure how many people have a genuine interest in finding him.

It’ll get interesting when this starts happening to politicians.

There are 8 million people in New York.  And despite being one of the most heavily surveilled cities in the world - that works to the shooter’s advantage.

He disappeared in Central Park - and again at the Port Authority bus terminal.

A city offers a lot of advantages.

Despite running a grid and having the contents of every trash can in midtown - he’s in the wind.  We’ve got all kinds of tooling these days - but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him remain at large for a while.

It also wouldn’t surprise me to see him turn himself in.

It seems like they have his face, fingerprints and likely his DNA. Unless they're bluffing. I just don't see him getting away. It wouldn't surprise me if they are already building out his family tree using genetic genealogy. Or at least considering it.
