Question for Kel Tec Sub 2000 owners

Earlier today I disassembled my new Sub 2000, then without thinking I pulled the trigger on it and released the hammer. In the owner's manual it says if you do this while it's disassembled you will render the weapon "totally inoperable." I tried for about an hour to get the hammer back down, no luck. (For those of you who don't know these guns, the hammer is way back in the receiver and pretty much impossible to get to, and to put the bolt back in you have to have the hammer down.) I tried my bare fingers, a long screwdriver, even a bent-up clothes hanger. If anyone has had this happen, how did you fix it? I'm now thinking that at the least this is going to require taking it to a gunsmith, and at worst sending in back to Kel Tec.

Found this quote on another forum: "i've done that on mine too. get a wooden dowl (or something long and skinny) and use it to push the hammer back into the cocked position. easy one to fix. no biggy."

And the OP on that thread said it worked for him. Best of luck!

Haha, I did that, too (once). You can get the hammer re-cocked with a wooden dowel or screwdriver. If you can't get it back, PM me and we'll meet somewhere so I can show you how it's done. It's one of those quirky things you'll learn to do with a firearm like this.

Fun to shoot, though!
