Online Purchase for a Family Member

Recommended Posts

I asked this in a national forum that I am a part of, but wanted to get it posted here in a TN Gun Owner forum.

I have a family friend who is wanting to purchase a PSA AR-15 for her husband as a Christmas gift.

Is it possible for her to order/purchase it in her name for him?

If she orders it, picks up from the dealer with an approved background check, can she just gift it to him or do they eventually have to transfer it at an FFL?

Thanks!

There are no laws against gifting a firearm to a family member who lives in your home state.  If they live in another state, you are legally required to transfer it to them via an FFL in their home state.

Whether people actually do that or not is anyone's guess.  I'm just telling you what the law is.

She can gift a gun to him. It will not need to be transferred at an ffl. This is assuming he isn't a prohibited person.

Thanks!  Appreciate the quick responses.
