Wood Working Question

I am refinishing an old wooden table , that I will place under a covered deck ,outdoors.

The table has holes in the wood.

Does anyone have recommendations for an outdoor satin finish  and a clear epoxy wood filler product ?

I have looked on line for the clear filler, I have seen some marine products, but these products are sold by the gallon, approximately $300-$400.

There are wood fillers that are described as clear, but have a tan color, I want a "water clear"  hard wood epoxy.

I need,  maybe a pint or couple tubes of epoxy wood filler.

I have seen tables with clear filler at bars and restaurants.

West System 105 is the best in my opinion.  It’s not inexpensive - but it’s worth it.  I think a lot of woodworking folks are also using Total Boat’s slow cure epoxy - but I haven’t had much experience with it personally.

I know you can get West System in quart quantities.  I’m not sure about pints.

I guess I should note that most of those epoxies are two parts - a resin and a hardener.  So for instance, with the West System 105 epoxy - you’d also need a smaller quantity of 205 hardener.

I've used Total Boat with success.  I'd stop by Woodcraft in Franklin and talk to the folks there about what you're doing and let them make some recommendations.  They are good folks to know and very knowledgable.

My neighbor does fractal burning, and I think he uses some 2 part epoxy as a filler/topcoat/finish. He adds dye to fill in the burned areas, and then covers with clear epoxy.

His tables look like they are covered with glass when he’s done.

Dad's a wood turner and I think he uses the System Three epoxy from Woodcraft.  There's different versions for filling holes or voids versus a thin surface layer.

I'd also recommend you ask at Woodcraft.
